What a way to start the thread.

Every time I think of him, I think of that big contact that he refused to sign. Head injury ever?

The thought is that the Rangers cut him loose to allow him to find another gig since they had no plans of calling him up. Kelenic had the following line for the Rangers’ AAA team in 123 plate appearances:

.374

.451

.654

1.105

Looking at his stats, he was called up by the rangers this year. So yes. 10 PAs but he was called up.

I thought you were talking about the present. Yes, they called him up on June 20th. They cut him and resigned him to another minor league contract. This time, they likely cut him from his minor league deal to get a shot with another team.

I guess this means we won the trade.

man that is fucking brutal. awful luck for red sox. oh well, luck is part of the game. nobody is crying that we have lost 3-4 WAR with Teal's below replacement backups and half out young pitching had TJS the last 15 months.

Obviously just bad luck by Boston but what a masterful trade by the Nasty Nats. They turned Boston Smith into 6 years of a mid-rotation starter.

They actually gave Boston Jake Bennett this past off-season. If it makes Red Sox fans feel any better, they basically traded Early and Perales for Mead and Bennett. Mead won't be of any use this year, but he's controllable for a long time.

One less year than Early.

Another broken wrist though. Zaps your power. A terrible injury for a hitter and you never know if it'll come all the way back.

Smith is going to win 3 MVPs so I don’t know if it’s that great.

Who was the last Sox player that was never the same after it? Am I thinking of Quentin? That fucking bonehead.

Yep. I think we potentially get to the ALCS that year with a healthy Quentin. He had decent 2011 but was never the same after it.

Well, it could have been that or getting off the juice.

He’s definitely a nice runner up prize but the real winner is the Nationals. A middle of the rotation starter for 5 more years is as good as gold these days.

Also had plantar fasciitis...
