And would anyone be shocked if he has durability issues down the road with his back

I’ve noticed that he doesn’t dive for balls and has trouble when he has to run in for low grounders, I’m sure there’s back issues. I’m not a fan of tall middle infielders.

Sox need to "Pull a Cleveland" as the kids these days call it. Win the final 2 games and salvage a series split.

Have to say, typing out “schlittler” makes you question “is this word spelled right?” For a while

But how to properly value him from both sides of a trade equation?

Sox don't have to trade him, but a number of flashing red warning signs.

I agree. IMO he needs to end the season strong to have enough value to make a trade worth it. They've got Roch waiting in the minors, so they have a legitimate reason to trade Colson if they wanted.

Who knows, maybe another GM really loves Colson and would make a big deal for him.

He’s barely played a full season.

Well, they don't even have a real SS behind him until Cholowsky is ready...

FWIW, Statcast says the Sox have been the 7th best challenging team this season. Very inaccurate but ultimately at the team level all that matters is how many times you win.

Remember when Venable said Acuna was as good a shortstop as Colson, he wasn’t wrong.

This board is going to be insufferable when Roch posts a .700 OPS in Winston-Salem

Nice work on the game thread @Kyyle23 !

I put a lot of effort into these things!

I went out for a walk and now the Sox have a hit.....progress, not perfection.

Let’s not act like that wouldn’t be a bad thing given his wood bat issues

I should have said a SS that can provide at least a 700-725 ops with above average defense.

Meidroth comes up literally and figuratively SHORT as a regular there for more than 7-10 days.

Depends on Lackey's progress.

Or Flora.

It certainly wouldn't be a good thing! I'm just noticing a lot of very strong optimism about Roch and negativity about the guys we see on TV more often. This crowd won't respond well to negative info about Roch, that's for sure.

If we had a power hitting leftfielder I would be more than fine with Meidroth at SS and Ant Man at 2B.

Davis did a hell of a job tonight. First inning was a stinker but frankly could have gone a lot differently if Rice's soft chopper was hit a few inches further fair. And he saved our pen after that.

Bonemer to LF/2B

Eventually...Antonacci still has a lot of strides to make defensive line to be just league average on defense.

This is just me and not like the industry consensus or anything, but my gut feeling is if Bonemer has an MLB career he ends up as a primary 1B after toiling at some other spots like 2B or 3B.

Feels like several of these losses have come down to one bad inning with one big XBH for the opponent, but that's baseball for you.

Romo has no shot. Another game where catcher has more errors than hits

That would be disappointing

Romo now at a smooth 519 OPS.

Feels more like 319

Yankees, RAYS, Red Sox series maybe the death blows to the season.

None of this really bothers me…rough patches are supposed to happen. This team went into the season with expectation of not winning 70 games. They aren’t even supped to be in a position to disappoint. Bumps and bruises along the way are expected and a good thing, let’s see how they bounce back next series. A little bit of success has really broken peoples’ brains of realistic expectations.

As a wise man once said: “Trust the process”…..(and eventually LeBron will come)
