I guess another possibility is that Braden's foot issue is a little more serious than expected.

Someone must see a fix with Doyle.

There's no other logic to it at all...except for defensive replacement/PR/change of scenery.

My bigger concern is that in Castillo and Doyle, I’m not sure those moves make the 26 team better.

Org rankings aren’t the most accurate valuation, but Adam’s is their 8th ranked prospect, and Vielma has been one of their more impressive DSL guys at only 16.

Awful value to get someone who benefited from the Coors effect two years ago but otherwise can’t hit or stay healthy.

That's like giving Acuna the RF job lol.

-0.5 fWAR is really tough to pull off with how good he was defensively 2-3 years ago.

Doyle = Adam Engel for better and worse I think is the way to look at it. Engel probably didn't show quite that much pop but was similarly one-dimensional as a hitter.

Brazoban should be better than Dominguez at least...certainly much less expensive.

Taking lots of gambles that they can fix both Castillo and Doyle.

Feels way too cute to me…normally you try to add producing players at the deadline, not a bunch of projects.

He's got three+ years of arb eligibility and minor league options, but he's also a legit non-tender candidate. Upside is an actual Luis Robert replacement whereas Adams's is probably a third starter. Prefer trading Adams to Oppor or Larson or obviously McDougal I guess. Sandlin I wouldn't have minded to see in the trade.

Yea but he is still terrible in center so I doubt he outperforms him there

I don't get this trade, Doyle can't hit and he plays in Coors Field.

My thoughts as well. They got lucky enough that this season has worked out the way it has. Will these reclamation products work. We shall see. Definitely underwhelming returns as of this minute. It’s like waiting for that second shoe to fall to make these make sense….still short a starter and catcher

While yes they are contending now, there is absolutely nothing wrong in buying on potential upside for future years considering they are a year, at least, ahead of schedule. Losing Adams honestly means nothing to me, and the 16 year old for the Rockies sake I hope he turns out to be good in 6 years or however long it takes for him to develop

Yup…it’s hard to process this one without knowing more. Candidly, I’d prefer he go down to AAA and work through adjustments and not be forced onto the major league roster right now. Just hard to imagine trying to fix someone’s swing or approach in a part time role under the pressures of a playoff run makes a lot of sense.

I'm mostly fine with it. Adams probably a bullpen guy (and it ain't gonna get better for him in Coors), and the other guy is whatever. Buying upside with Doyle makes sense if you think you can fix his struggles and that the injuries this year caused him to hit so poorly.

Center field looks like a platoon now.
