If this trade is made last year I think all would be on board. He has been hurt, he is cheap, plays great defense, has speed, has options. This doesnt hurt the team and there is upside.

How many of us thought Tristan Peters, Hudson, Richards, or a lot of guys would amount to much of anything. I can't believe I am saying this but I think Getz and company have earned a little benefit of the doubt. If he is terrible then it only hurts if Mason Adams or the other guy become legit MLB players.

This wont make or break the season, we can be more critical of the SP and catcher trades which hopefully happen. Lets wait and see what occurs there.

Peters is in a slump but he is a 2026 All Star. The balls he has hit hard will start falling for hits. No reason to be so reactive to every hitting slump and bump in the road that every player experiences. They Scout a player for holes in their swing, and after time, a player will adjust. Peters will.

For the prospect aficionados, would Adams actually be considered a top ten prospect? Also I think we are taking for granted how, for the most part, we have stayed healthy this year. Trade could be safeguarding against cluster injuries if they were to occur.

I believe he was rated as high as #8 in the Sox system by MLB Pipeline, but I believe that was before the draft. Looks like he is slotted at #19 in the Rockies system now.

more then half of his career home runs have come outside of coors

I don’t mean to rain on your parade but Ray Ray already called this out. Take a look at his home/away splits, especially when he was actually able to hit prior to the past two seasons. He is the very definition of a “Coors-made” hitting threat. He has hit worse than Timo Perez away from Coors in his career. It’s nice that he can hit an occasional homerun but I see a career .573 OPS on the road. That’s mind-blowingly awful.
