2 hours ago2 hr Doyle seems to have the physical talent to be a good-to-great player and has played at a reasonably high level before. But you have got to squint way too hard at the numbers to find a data-based case for why he's actually been playing well or was clearly about to start playing well. If he does well for the Sox, I'm 100% chalking it up to coaching and not that the breakout was clearly inevitable.
2 hours ago2 hr This is getting a bit ridiculous. Ray Ray is not being a bully. Any baseball fan that wasn’t biased by being either a Rockies fan or a White Sox fan could look at Doyle’s stats, defensive performance (via stats and videos), and age, and wonder why any team would pay a premium to acquire him as anything other than a backup CF / fourth outfielder. Some posters are coming up with every reason in the book to prove there is a light at the end of the tunnel with Doyle, more than likely because they are biased as White Sox fans. Perhaps Doyle can break out with the Sox but the odds aren’t exactly with him based on his most recent performance. Edited 1 hour ago1 hr by WhiteSox2023

1 hour ago1 hr He's been bad this year but there's def some talent there. The Sox clearly don't want Braden in CF or Perieria and probably not Acuna either. Not saying that's a great idea, he seems redundant with Acuna imo, but that's what they are thinking, a glove first platoon mate for Peters. Paying a "premium" is a Hawk like get on back there stretch. Nobody wanted Adams as anything more than waiver wire bait, Vielma 90/100 never makes any MLB impact. It's not a deal I'd have done, but it's a pretty big nothing burger unless Vielma turns into a MLB regular, and that is a long shot.

Pereira was a flier acquisition but I don’t think he could handle CF either, and I don’t necessarily think the Sox considered him as an option there. However, Getz had to throw resources at a CF and DFA Pereira because his previous attempts at acquiring a CF have failed (see Zavala and Acuna). You don’t think Adams could have potentially helped the Sox bullpen right now?

Do you you want him as a swingman? I like him, but it's a starter profile that is more about pitchability than stuff. If I'm looking for a leverage arm, McDougal and Hagen Smith are way in front of Mason Adams as far as stuff playing up out of the bullpen.(Vielma is the one I'm more worried about missing out on.)

Not sure what the Sox plan is.

The White Sox acquired one of the worst players in baseball over the last 1 1/2 years but you've painted this giant rose. Very fascinating. We don’t agree. Who cares. No one, not me nor the article you missed said anything about 2026. Your opinion would be valid had you not said you couldn't see how crushing it related to the time period you talked about because that wasn't the time period they used. You missed not only the article but apparently what I said about September being a part of that 56 game 2nd half of 2025 time period.I didn't even talk about 2026. All I talked about was how you created your own time period of suck and couldn't understand how that was "crushing it" when no one said 2026 and the previous September was "CRUSHING IT". You failed to see quite a bit except what you wanted to see.All anyone was saying is that as recently as a year ago he played pretty good for a 56 game stretch taken in aggregate That's not all that unusual for a lot of players when you separate seasons in halves even if the 2nd half is obviously shorter. The whole Sox team improved in the 2nd half last year with the arrival of more young talent which led me to think the advent of a more talented roster for 2026 would get the Sox 15 more wins. Looks like they will go beyond that.I didn't criticize your lonely F grade for the trade deadline because it very well could turn into an F. I gave it a C- myself but see potential for a solid B.I'm willing to see all sides. I'm not sure you are.

Plenty of people thought Gonzalez was wasted on not trying to use him to acquire a pitcher. mostly from all who thought he was a bust. Then they come on here acting like oh can't wait to see how opinions flip with Adams and B. Smith as if they've never did that .

They thought that some of Castillo’s contract money should have been sent over by the Mariners for next season due to the inclusion of Smith. Instead, Getz paid for Dominguez’s $2 million buyout for next year. Also, trading Mason Adams wasn’t the problem. It’s who they traded him for. Trading him for an outfielder that is arguably worse than the outfielders you already have is questionable.
