Guardians get Foster Griffin

Featured Replies

I AM PISSED.

We really should have pulled him down.

ESPECIALLY IF WE WERE UP AGAINST HIM GOING TO CLEVELAND.

WHAT THE f*** GETZ!!!!!!!

The Athletic’s Spencer Nusbaum reports that Washington will receive four players in return for the All-Star”

We’ll see who they had to give up. Four prospects for a rental. God damn.

In this one instance - yes. Griffin would have been a fantastic get for us.

This is less than ideal...

And we will still win the division and better yet, the Guardians will be out a few prospects in the following year. We'll look back at this as a win ;)

Not really moved by the Guards getting a solid arm, they always have those.

Cleveland still can't score runs.

This is absurd. In what world do the Sox not beat that package. Oh, this world.

Fucking retarded.

The world where our pitching prospects suck

We could have easily offered more value in a way that has no harm to our future. This is dumb.

Very content with not getting into bidding wars for rentals. Dion is major league ready with a lower FIP and higher K% than Griffin, and he's not even the best arm in the deal.

Guards are deep with arms so you'd have to try to beat their quantity with quality, and I wouldn't be aiming to do that for this year.

I at least have to find solace in a belief that Getz drove up the price here on the Indians and forced them to give up more than they wanted.

Still think we could have offered a quality over quantity deal that the Nats would have taken… and I would have slotted Forest right at the top with Burke.

Really would have felt like walking on sunshine if we had Burke / Griffin / Martin / Kay / Castillo / Schultz as our starting rotation options.

Maybe what the Sox have been seeing out of Noah lead them to believe that he is starting to become trustworthy as that number 2 type guy.

And maybe they also plan to move Hagen Smith / McDougal up to further strengthen the pen.

To some extent, it's like when you're losing but you get the opposing team to burn their closer. If the Guardians come back and take the division, too bad. But that's what they were always supposed to do. At least we make them sweat and spend a little capital on the way there. But by the way, we're in the lead right now.

Agreed. Spending a ton of capital for relievers doesn't sit well for me. Let other teams do it.

Dont like seeing more good lefties in the division. We have had a problem with them... also why I am scared if we end up playing Boston in the playoffs.

Playing any team in the playoffs is a problem I'm willing to deal with this year.

The Guardians gave up table scraps for the dogs.

We wasted our best pitching prospect on a 28 year old CF that can’t hit a lick.

Mason Adams isn’t our best pitching prospect and I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised by Doyle.

FG has us at 43% to win division, Tribe at 30% gosox3
