They also needed a TOR starter and a lights out Closer. Unfortunately, Getz and the WSox announced that they would not be trading from from their top prospect pool, including Calab Bonemer. So that they decided to stand pat and try to create a fancy deal for Bart and Castillo.OK The Sox saved prospect capital but they shouldn't have, not this year. This is the team and this was the season to go for it, it being however far they could go. Now 2027 season may not happen, the Sox may not be able to sign Murakami. And the core of this 2026 team might be whittled away with foolish trades, injuries, etc.I agree with you to some extent. The Brazoban and Bart trades were great for this playoff run and they didn’t cost anything. It sucks that Bart is already done for the season but s%*# happens. However, look at the two starters that the Cubs acquired. Both were rentals but they are both having great seasons. Meanwhile, Getz acquired a 5 ERA starter mainly because he was under control for one more year and his salary could be offset by Seranthony’s.Finally, Getz acquired a CF with a .570 OPS. These aren’t moves that a top team and competitor in baseball makes to win now. Getz made these moves because they were cheap and could fulfill half of his next offseason’s plans. Serious teams that want to win in the playoffs don’t make moves like this. The trade deadline is about acquiring the best performing rentals, not projects that have terrible stats. 14 hours ago14 hr I agree to some extent but in order to trade for a Hunter Goodman, you need to expend prospect capital. You don't sit on it, and that is what they did.

And he would have been a good target if you don’t believe in Teel or Quero because he isn’t a free agent for 3 more seasons, but paying a prospect premium for any addition was never in Getz’s plans. It really wasn’t that bad of a thought though. Quero’s stock is so low right now we can’t even bank on him. And if you acquired Goodman, Teel could always be a 1B/DH, especially if Murakami leaves via free agency. But perhaps Goodman was never truly made available without a MASSIVE overpay. Sounds like the Yankees failed to land Goodman. Edited 14 hours ago14 hr by WhiteSox2023

You want to give him at-bats or reps in the outfield over Montgomery or Antonacci? Or have two roster spots taken up by a mediocre platoon DH tandem? At least give Hays the Josh Rojas treatment, people. It was a useless signing, the outfield just isn't the worst in MLB like we all thought it would be. What do you bet he remains in the org because no team wants to pay him his salary + buyout, and he likely has no interest in a release because he'd just be playing minor league ball somewhere else? DFAing this guy makes total sense, it makes less sense to me to do it with Pereira.14th in OPS and sinking recently with Braden and Peters strugglinghttps://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask/2026-mlb-team-outfield-rankings-by-team24th in homersCubs/PCA of course are #1 Edited 7 hours ago7 hr by caulfield12
7 hours ago7 hr Right now our outfield is a mess, not much power, B. Mont and Peters have hit the skids, I thought we’d see more power from Braden. Grichuk isn’t an everyday player. Antonacci has been pretty good but LF isn’t his best position plus Venable insists on platooning him, he needs to be out there every game and at the top of the order. I’m not sure if Doyle is going to help that much. Edited 7 hours ago7 hr by The Mighty Mite

A 59.5% GB rate isn’t going to work and many of us were concerned that they called him up when they did given this was a major issue in the minors as well. Zero excuse for him not being a 20+ HR guy eventually, but there is certainly work to do there.Antonacci looks like a guy who could eventually give you 15 HRs. Obviously you’d love more from LF, but the broader offensive production works. This is also a spot that Bonemer could eventually slot into and that would greatly improve the overall power of our OF.Peters is the tricky one. If he can be close to a league average bat, I don’t really care about the lack of HRs all that much given his defense. And to his credit, he does hit a ton of doubles which helps boost the ISO some. I try not to overreact to slumps & regression and think he’ll he fine eventually, but he’ll certainly need a platoon partner at minimum.

You add nothing by stating the obvious.

Your inability to understand the word “regression” is next level embarrassing. You are also a wannabe internet tough guy who gets triggered by the softest of things. Private equity, public transportation, ingress/egress, players wearing too much jewelry, & people leveraging predictive stats to make predictions are just a handful of the many things you have thrown massive hissy fits about. The best part is you also think you are the head of the macho man police and get to tell everyone what is and isn’t allowed from a toughness perspective. Is a miscarriage allowed to impact a guy’s play…nope only a p**** would let that s%*# bother them according to big bad tray. For the record, I held off piling on you for that ridiculously stupid post the other day because enough people had already shitted on you and it felt like bullying at that point. But honestly, go f*** your self pal. Me and my wife had two miscarriages, one of which was a brutal experience for her. That s%*# can be demoralizing. As usual, you’ve made yourself look the dumb loud fool that you are. You are a joke of a poster and this site would be a better place without you.
