8/8 Sox vs. G Words. 6:15 PM CST, ESPN the Ocho (actually FOX)

allowing Romo to stay on the 40 man all year, let alone the major league team, is one of the craziest most inept decisions the Sox have made in a long time when it comes down to roster construction, I've never seen a less capable catcher since Maldonado but at least he could play decent defense

then to go past the deadline and your answer is Joey Bart, just insane

I think Chase is really struggling with whatever is bothering him

Good point

Meidroth was wayyy inside the line

Romo is so bad.

Should have PH for him. Anyone. Quero… Doyle… Anyone.

That ball hits Chase no matter where he's running. Total bailout.

If Chase was on the foul side of the line that throw probably goes into the outfield

I’ve noticed Chase runs a lot on the inside of the line. He probably should cut that habit, regardless if the rule is dumb or not.

Bart wasn’t the answer to replacing Romo, as he stayed up

He really is Madrigal

The team likes Romo's game prep. He can't hit, and isn't good at other aspects of catching, but they love his prep. Helps the pitchers.

Almost like it was his intention to lay one down, force the pitcher to field it, and get in front of the throw.

I call that high IQ baseball that was praised in decades past. Now, because of a dumb rule… the powers that be have killed that part of the game.

So dumb.

I always thought we should have hung on to Omar Narvaez. He was probably our best catcher since AJ haha, haven’t had a good one since

AJ was right initially. What's the letter of the law there? Chase was in line with the base, he didn't need to move towards foul territory to touch the base. What are his obligations?

Looks like the rule as revised a couple years ago is that if he's touching the infield grass at the wrong moment, he's out. I can't roll it back right now but I'm assuming he was indeed on the grass.

Charlotte numbers don't count

This is why I’m stoked they scored that run and wish the Meidroth rule didn’t exist.

people on Sox Twitter argued that they didn't wanna make huge changes at catcher at the deadline because it takes too long to learn a staff

that's true, it does take a while to learn a staff, that's why you get this s%*# figured out ASAP when Teel went down in the WBC, coming into the season with Quero and Romo/Mcguire was insane, and then to not make a legit change before Teel's 2nd injury..

Is it me or is Romo extra fidgety this inning?

Quero looked like a real player at that point still
