This isn't the first time they've been walked off in back to back games. They bounced back fine in Cleveland and I think they'll be fine mentally now. It's the physical wear that we have to be wary of.

Venable’s decision last night, right or wrong, will be folklore if things go south

Hope he’s able to be effective with ABS. Was watching something about how Nola has had a hard time because he was used to trying to always hit the corners and got an extended plate. Someone like Kyle Hendricks would have been significantly worse in this new era.

We have the easiest schedule amongst the contenders. Like the teams chasing us woudl have to play out of their skins (something they haven't shown they can do for 125 games) and we'd have to collapse.

Agreed. Holding a good offense to 4 runs in regulation with this staff is not an underperformance by the arms (or manager). Scoring 3 runs and then cruising to win on the road against a contender is not a thing you can count on with ANY staff.

The offense needed to get another hit when it mattered. Asking your offense to score their season average is a lot more reasonable than expecting the arms to hold the Cubs to 2.

Yes, up 15 games on August 1st for it to dwindle down to 1.5 in late September.

I specifically remember thinking that we had won the division when I saw we were 15 games up on August 1st.

I think there were a few challenges against him in his last start. I know one was a low and in change to a lefty that landed perfectly that was upheld.

The Sox should've signed more starting pitching help in the offseason if anything. Hopefully Thorpe can come up and add another guy to eat innings and keep them in games.

In good with the approach - we burned our chips against Tigers - right thing to do - but we got Newcomb up…why bother. Worse case see what happens and if you get the runs in top inning than you rush Newcomb up at that point and just go Richard’s for lead off guy and then flip for the lefties.

But they need to just let some minor league guys get shellacked and get the pen some rest or something here. Got to find a way to get the pen fresh.
