That's weird. Guy was thrilled to get picked up by the Sox and given the opportunity . He pitched lights out and can't show it on the field ? I guess we're not past the sore losers pissed because you think they are showing you up stuff.

Think it was more what CHW said. But also the cubs were piss poor abut challenging today. f*** em

Just got back from the doctor and very, VERY happy they won. They get something positive out of the start of the week.

Can't believe the Twins swept Atlanta though. ☹️

Let's see what happens the rest of the week.

16 more wins to a winning season.

Looks like Fedde will be the 4th starter and Urquidy will be the 5th starter the rest of the season. Hopefully these 2 will help lead the team into the 2026 MLB playoffs.

We’re jumping to way too many conclusions here. Urquidy had 8 strikeouts in his first three innings and then got zero in his next three as he started going through the order again. Definitely a great start but let’s see how does as the league is better prepared to face him.

Guess the Athletic will be changing their pick to the Twins now 🤣

Apparently Counsell got wound up by Urquidy's theatrics today lol

I thought he was just trying to disrupt Urquidy's momentum, seeing that he was dominating the Cubs, trying to break up his rhythm...even the Cubs announcers said they didn't see anything wrong with Urquidy's delivery.

He's still playing for the Chicago Dogs. 36 now.

Big guy in the bleachers in a Sandburg shirt taunted and kicked someone and got pummeled by multiple people.

Geaux Tigers

From Fegan's Sun-Times story:

Injury updates

Martin threw his first bullpen session Wednesday since hitting the IL for a blister on his right middle finger. The blister is basically healed, but the IL stay also offers Martin the chance to rest and reset his delivery mechanics. After a phenomenal first two months, he has a 7.06 ERA since June 1. He is eligible to be activated on Aug. 29.

Kyle Teel is on track to test his recovering left ankle running the bases this weekend. If he completes two successful days of running the bases, the Sox starting catcher will be cleared for a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.

Prospect lefty Cameron Johnson underwent surgery to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow this week. Last month’s 15th round pick is expected to be ready by spring.

White Sox rotation is in place, if you squint

Manager Will Venable stipulated Wednesday that Erick Fedde and Jose Urquidy are part of the Sox rotation at present, though both pitched behind openers in the Crosstown series, and the former has bounced between roles throughout August.

I'd have to check his exit velos, but eye test tells me everything he hits comes off the bat HARD, even the outs.

Yep, they could have gone 6-0 on the road trip.

BTW I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a player as much as that punk PCA and that includes many guys down thru the years on the Red Sox and Yankees.

I almost wish I could like him or at least be ambivalent towards him, since he's going to be in Chicago for a while and hangs out with other young Chicago athletes that I do like. I don't auto-dislike Cubs players or rivals who play well against the Sox.

But he's just not likeable at all to me (and doesn't even bother to offset his obnoxious personality by being even a little photogenic either...)

Most of us are meatballs who only think they know something in hindsight .

Sure lets scapegoat Getz because we don't have Derek Hill any more while everyone else thinks he'll get Exec of the year.

Garbage pickup cost nothing played well. Thought we had better with a young cost controlled Everson Peirara. Made sense on every level except defense and out of options. Too bad he couldn't stay on the field.

Do we really need to cry about every talent that got away from the bottom of the roster where the churn is constant ? I'm looking at you @caulfield12 Someone puts up .5 WAR and there's a guy to point it out like its some huge revelation.

Sometimes it works too. Peters, Urquidy, Getting Fedde back again. Hudson. Peirera was a great find until he was as brittle as Eloy. Still may work with Doyle. He started fine then slumped . That's how it goes from week to week with those guys who play part time at the bottom of the 26 man. Find some perspective. Oh no our GM and young players makes mistakes like every GM and every young player in the history of GM's and young players do.

St. Louis appears to be playing Pereira as a straight platoon. His batting line looks good, but he's striking out almost a third of his low number of at-bats. I wish him well. Getz was right about him, he just couldn't stay healthy, and the Sox felt better about Doyle. The people who railed on about another 100-loss season now believe their negativity somehow created this first place team, and Getz/Venable can only mess up their commenting work.

I still don't think Getz could have gotten 2 front line starters without emptying the farm, and maybe not even then. Nobody really thinks what it means to complain how Doyle is a worthless bum, but he still cost Adams and Vielma on the market. If Adams and Vielma was the price for a worthless bum, they don't seem to be able to explain how Adams and Vielma would have brought back Detmers or better.

Was this a known medical report that dropped him to the 15th round? Or was his performance a 15th round performance?
