As I said several times, 'buying" at the deadline is for suckers. And Getz is the mark. These GMs are not his friend, and correctly see him as easy pickings.
We really need an offseason upgrade. Whether Getz hires a more skilled advisor or whatever.

It’s funny cuz he was focused so hard on only acquiring players with additional years of control. Now it’s looking like you wouldn’t want these players for additional years, and there would be better players available in the offseason. 🤣

Who wouldn’t undo those trades and take Boston Smith and Mason Adams back right now? Put Adams in the rotation right next now instead of Castillo and have either Hays or Pereira over Doyle. Are the Sox better or worse?

Well Castillo has had one good game in the four he's pitched, Brazolban has been terrible, Doyle has done nothing and Bart is hurt.

Getz gets a big fat F for his trade deadline acquisitions and as has been posted the Sox are stuck with them next year.

Not good.

And the Sox have lost 10 of their last 18 games.

Some people posted this in the original trade thread. It was eerily similar considering Castillo’s age. Shields was one year older at 34 when he was acquired compared to Castillo (33). The Sox have historically never realized that players don’t improve with age. 🤣

Yeah, that was a big gripe of mine. Having the extra 10-15m (whatever it is after Dominguez) that we have to pay Castillo sucks when our owner is a cheap bastard.

This trade deadline was probably half of Getz’s next offseason and spending.
