Winners thread ! Sox win ! 4-1

Back to 7 over .500 . Would be nice to sweep the Twins.

Every mini win streak goes a long way to winning the division. Keep chipping away that magic number.

Bombs away as Colson and Vargas both hit # 30. Braden got the double dutch Montgomery's HR threat going with his 6th.

Just gotta win series and beat Cleveland ourselves.

I hope when the Sox play Detroit they will be as happy to piss away big leads like they did today TWICE to Cleveland.

Unbelievable.

Lead is down to 2 1/2 games.

Sox are going to have to keep winning games because I don't think they are going to be able to put these guys away.

Cleveland is like Dracula, they simply refuse to die.

I mean its hard to put any team away when you play near .500 ball for three consecutive months. Cleveland just lost a series before the Tigers came to town. The Sox need to actually win consistently.

As I've said before and it depends on your definition of "consistently" I guess, they simply don't have the pitching to rip off six or eight game win streaks.

No, but by all rights they shouldn't lose more than 1-2 more series for the rest of the season. There's not a team left that should beat them.

I hope you are right.

We don't need to do that. Just go .500 the rest of the way. I don't think Cleveland have the ability to go 16-6. We may not have the pitching but they don't have the slug either.

We have to WIN this division. Cleveland plays a Hostess Cupcake schedule the rest of the way, and is fully capable to go 16-6 or better. Detroit quit and is handing them a 4 game sweep. We have to take care of our own business and not expect help. Help would be a bonus.

Pirates and Cardinals are no slouches. They play in a division with two really good teams, Cards just beat the Dodgers twice on the road and getting a few guys back from injury, Pirates have a pretty good offense and decent starting pitching. Both would probably be in first if in the AL Central

Fedde has a 1.04 ERA in 5 starts vs. MIN as a Sox (2024 and 2026). 26 IP, 3 ER, 24 Ks to 7 BB, and a 4-0 record.

He's held them to a .416 OPS this season.

Solid 3.00 ERA overall since June, that's some quality innings for a value price.

Well then they're probably losing the division.

When the Sox slug, they are no slouches, FEAR The Sox.

26-14 against the AL Central, that is taking care of business.

The Sox have to take care of their own business, they have no control over what Cleveland is doing except when we play them. It would be nice to get on a roll and win every game on this homestand.

The Sox are going to have to play like they want this . what's happening in Cleveland is a bit concerning . two walk-offs in a double header is pretty unusual . that's a hot team playing a weak team, but also living on luck as much as talent . hopefully they will cool off and come back to earth soon . no question in my mind who the better team is . GO SOX!!

Define “hot team.” Cleveland is 6-4 in its last 10. Same as the Sox. 14-14 since the trade deadline which includes winning 8 of 9 against the dregs of MLB (SF, Colorado and LAA. The Sox are 15-15 since the TDL. Since the ASB Cleveland is 23-21. The Sox are 24-22. Which team is “hot?”

August 16th the Guardians were 5 games under .500 and 5 1/2 gb.

Since they are +7.

The White Sox are +1 during that stretch.

The lead has now shrunk to 2 1/2.

5/6 Castillo starts have been disasters.

So your starting point is when they had three series against the worst teams in baseball. To their credit they took advantage of the schedule. Other than that gifted stretch or even with that gifted stretch they’re playing exactly the same as the Sox over virtually any span of games other than the full season which the Sox have three fewer losses. They just lost a series to the Royals and let the Jays back in the race. They are not some juggernaut. The Sox get a quitting Detroit, frisky but hopefully uninterested KC and an awful Colorado for their last 10. The Sox are the better team and are winning the division. Book mark this and shove it my face if I’m wrong.

How many more starts are you giving Castillo if he keeps on giving up 4+ runs per outing?

You could also look at yesterday as they almost lost 2 to a dogshit tigers team. They just lost 2 of 3 to Toronto. The day to day ups and downs are hefty here right now. That said just win.

Nice strawman. Well done.
