  • The reality is the playoffs have already started for the Sox. They have to play and manage all 9 of these just like that is the case. And if they do make the playoffs having to play with that pressure

  • They turn Sears into a Willis tonight. Sox win comfortably.

A dream season with a nightmare ending.

White Sox most bullpen innings pitched in mlb, #10 ERA

Guardians 24th in bullpen innings pitched and 7th best ERA

LA Dodgers 29th in bullpen innings

Honestly impressive what their bullpen has done considering their workload.

And obviously Hagen Smith the biggest recent revelation, which is a double edged sword with the glaring need for starting pitchers

Besides the last 3 weeks it has been for the most part great. The funniest thing was the leaping up and down Met reliever.

We never had the horses for a marathon that is a 162 game season. The offense still is the top scoring offense in the AL, though most of the damage was done pre All Star break, they've been pretty bad recently, scoring a bunch of runs here and there and not scoring enough way too many times. Hitting with RISP has been abysmal too. Mune fell off a cliff, along with Kolson and Braden, the bullpen started shaky but became a strength up until a month ago when it started to show wear and tear from over usage which comes back to my first point, and baseball pundits were saying it pre ASB, the starters would need to go deeper into games to spell their BP arms, they never did because our starting rotation is ass and Getz tradeline acquisitions were complete and utter trash and apparently no relief from the farm system.

What started as a feel good story, first franchise to have two straight 100 plus loss seasons and comes back to win their division now seems unlikely and the takeaway will be the late season collapse, due to the fact we have no starting pitching, we were never gonna actually compete for a title though, not with these hacks we have as starters. Just for comparison sake, take any one of our four 2005 postseason starters, Contreras, MB, Garland or Freddie Garcia and stick him in our current starting rotation and that one pitcher would be our ace, easily...also not having a true closer is screwing us rn.

This is mostly on Getz though, Will isn't a good in game manager but to be fair, not a whole lotta options to pick from from our pitchers.

Excellent post, right on the money.

Hagen Smith usually goes multiple innings. Any reason why he didn’t last night. I see from the box score he struck out the side his one inning.

Wore down on Thursday...started walking people.

Is there anyone left in the Charlotte( or even Birmingham) bullpen that could perhaps improve a worn out bullpen down the stretch???

I don't understand why they never brought up Thorpe. He pitched pretty well in his starts. He would at least be able to provide some bulk innings in a reliever role. You can tell the bullpen is out of gas. Having no reliever help in Charlotte to call up is on Getz and Bannister.

The White Sox needed to just not be awful in September. They are 5 -12. But they are also still 1+ up in the wild card with bad teams left on the schedule.

Cmon boys you can get there

Benetti is happy.

That’s cold, but probably true, even though he was a Sox fan growing up in Homewood, IL.
