Likely helps UNC receive the Tire bowl invite, Clemson was the main competition. I'm not too fond of this choice either, I applaud the severity of this, but it hurts not only SC and Clemson's players, but the rest of the ACC with the bowl money lost.

It also likely helps a team from the MAC... or Mountain west... something like that.

Purdue accepts Sun Bowl Bid:

For the third time in the past four years, Purdue is heading to West Texas to put the "pass" in "El Paso."

Sun Bowl media relations director Trent Hilburn confirmed Monday evening that Sun officials have decided to select Purdue to face a yet-to-be-determined opponent (likely from the Pac-10) in El Pason Dec. 31.

Kyle Orton will be the rare quarterback to start the same bowl game thrice in his career. In 2001, the Boilermakers lost to Washington State 33-27; in '02, they rallied to beat Washington 34-24.

The Sun Bowl has tie-ins to both the Big Ten and Pac-10, but the latter plays all the way up until Dec. 4, allowing for shakeups in the pecking order, should USC or Cal slip up in coming weeks. Speculation surrounding potential Pac-10 opponents has included Arizona State, Oregon State and UCLA.

More to come tomorrow...

Actually, Clemson was pretty much in the position to where they were going to lose money had they accepted that Bowl invite, as sad as that is. What I hate more than anything, especially as an avid South Carolina fan, is that we sent Coach Holtz out with such a bitter tasting finale. These kids knew better than to behave the way they did.

I was pretty sure that the bowl declines were gonna happen, both University presidents were in meetings all Monday morning, and it was pretty obvious what was gonna happen in my area of the state.

My only regret, is sending Lou out like this. I apologize Coach Holtz, you deserved better. With that being said, bring on the Visor!!

i think this decision is good for college football as it sets a good example for what will happen and it also opens up bowl bids for smaller conferences possibly as teams are forced to move up with the lack of bowl eligible teams this year

They had UNC (bowl game), UTEP (ranked), and Iowa St. (possible Big 12 title game appearance) on the 'waiting list' of the preseason poll. UNC was even #10 after week 2.

Haha...Illiana.

You could argue UNC belonged on there the week of the Utah debacle, which was October 16th when they gave up 650+ yards in the game. The Miami game the next week completely turned everything in the program around. UNC accepted the Continental Tire Bowl invite today and is expected to face either West Virginia or UConn.

My God, Nebraska sucks major balls.

Their loss puts ISU in the Big 12 title game regardless of what they do tomorrow, right?

ISU better be focused as f***. There's another very important aspect of the ISU game. There was two. The Big 12 recieved a waiver for the North Champion if they were 6-6. This would've only happened if Colorado lost as did ISU but ISU got the berth in the Championship game and lost Oklahoma. ISU could then have played in a bowl. The waiver is because as of right now ISU only has five wins against Division I-A competition, with a 23-0 win over Northern Iowa to start the season. Now there is no threat of ISU going 6-6 in the regular season. But if ISU gets that 7th win tomorrow, they no longer need to use the UNI game for bowl eligibility, opening the door for them to schedule Illinois State as has been discussed next year. Them, along with a game at Army and a home game with Iowa will be by far the easiest home schedule the Clones have had in a while. With their next three games being @ Nebraska, home vs. Baylor and at Missouri, ISU could realistically start out 5-1 and 6-0 with the septic tank that is the North. Otherwise ISU will be scrambling for a I-A opponent which may put them in a position where a win may not be a gimme. There's much more than a date with Oklahoma at stake tomorrow at the Jack. This game has the potential to greatly affect next year.

Capnt12, where are you from? Because I thought i was the only White Sox/Gamecock fan in the country; very cool to find another one like myself.. :headbang :headbang

A&M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

99 yard TD when Vince Young tried a keep from the 1, he fumbled with 10 seconds left in the half.

ALL THE WAY BACK!

YESSSSSSSSSSS!

Texas ties it with a blocked punt TD!

Come on A&M do it for Boise!

Wow.

Major f***up by the refs.

After a blocked XP A&M recovered in own endzone.

They call a 1 point safety.

IF THE BALL IS KICKED IT'S DEAD!

IF THE BALL IS KICKED IT'S DEAD!

The single weirdest call I've ever seen in my life.

The refs make up a rule to have Texas tie the game. That is the worst rule of all time. A & M should protest this game. This game is football 101: how not to convert an extra point. One has been blocked, one has been missed, and one has had a bad hold.

What happened on the bs play was that there was a bad hold on a Texas extra point. The kicker kicked the ball, but obviously he couldn't make it. The ball barely got off the ground. A & M recovered it in the end zone and the refs call it a one point safety. That's embarrasing for football. I'm now rooting for A & M because of that bull.

Texas converts a 47 yard field goal.

16-13.

Does it matter it Tenn wins today?

Or are they automatically in the SEC title game...

Doesn't matter, they've already clinched a spot.
