Thats more then Munoz/Diaz/Baj would be making if they made the roster. Has solid career numbers. I remember the Pads liked him a few years back (if memory serves me right) but I don't remember what or how this guy threw.

White Sox signed LHP Kevin Walker, who had been with the Giants, to a one-year, $525,000 contract. We certainly didn't see Walker getting a major league deal. He had a 4.26 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP in 69 2/3 IP for Triple-A Fresno last season. The 28-year-old former Padre once looked like one of the game's top young lefty relievers, but he has struggled to regain his old form since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2001. November 24, 200421 yr This is obviously just a AAA move. KW does quite abit of this type of FA stuff. Signs a lot of lower level people to fill AAA roster spots, but at the same time hopes that there might be a gem out there too.

November 25, 200421 yr every offseason when the Sox make a move like this, as do most teams, it's treated by a few idiots as the one and only move they will make and a bad at one at that. some of you guys act like the Sox signed Walker and held a press conference and everything deaming it the best signing they've had and the only one they will do... unf***ing real. some of you need to use common sense. Naah, nobody said anything to suggest that it was the one and only move that they'll make.

Mission accomplished thus far. Williams added bullpen help Wednesday, signing journeyman left-handed reliever Kevin Walker. While it wasn't the big-name pitcher Williams hoped to add to his staff, it does give the GM a veteran southpaw who expects to get a good look in spring training. The Sox have two left-handed relievers — Neal Cotts and Damaso Marte — penciled in already. They also have youngster Arnie Munoz waiting in the wings. The 28-year-old Walker will add depth, serving as an insurance policy should Cotts or Marte stumble. Walker spent the majority of the 2004 season at Triple-A Fresno in the Giants organization, going 1-3 with a 4.26 ERA. He pitched 69 2/3 innings, with one save in 48 appearances (one start). Yes but what I'm saying is that this guy obviously didn't deserve a major league contract just by looking at his stats for the last few seasons. We've got Cotts, Marte and Munoz are the lefties we can look at for the bullpen, Walker will probably be filling Kelly Wunsch's spot in the bullpen down in Charlotte for 2005.

He hasn't really been given a full contract. He only gets 100,000 if he doesn't make the team out of spring training. There are a lot of things to be mad at KW about but this isn't one of them.

November 26, 200421 yr and where have those moves gotten us? They haven't gotten us to the playoffs. But have those moves specifically (Marte, Shingo, Gordon) prevented us from going to the playoffs? No, in fact, they've made us a better team... I don't know why you ask that question, one move 'alone' will really never get you to the playoffs, because in baseball, one player doesn't make a team...
