Guys that just put the ball in play are valuable to have at US Cellular.

with not that many walks...what was AJ's on base percentage???/

.272 average, .319 obp.

AJ is a good hitter. He was hitting under .200 at the end of April and wound up over .270. He hit over .300 each of his last 2 seasons in Minnesota, and led NL catchers in RBI last season. Pac Bell, now SBC Park is not a hitter's park.

.319

Hey, that's higher than our new lead off hitter's!

.272 average, .319 obp.

so if he drew adequate walks he would have a .340-.360 OBP??

hmm pierzynski leading off :banghead

Depends on how well he hits really. But don't think he's going to learn plate patience that easily.

I don't think you can put in a claim unless you have an open roster spot.

Sox happen to have one now. They designated Ryan Meaux for assignment.

BTW, there hasnt been a single source that has said the Sox are interested in him.  I've seen rumors linking A.J. to the Dodgers, Phillies, or Red Sox.

The Two NL teams would both get a shot at him before the White Sox and BoSox do.

I see a lot of support here for signing Pierzynski, but correct me if I am wrong... wasn't he a HUGE ass to his teammates in SanFransico?

Yes, after the first month or so he settled in quite well and there were no complaints about him. His first run in there was with bonds, but bonds is a dick anyway so who cares.

Good Point

I say get him and sign Perez and call it an offseason!!!

Maybe pick up Amazega as a backup infielder (for the league minimum) too.

But I'd be so pleased with Pyrz and Perez. God would I be happy.

Amazega or maybe Cora and have Willie as a bench player...

I'd start Willie over Amazega. Although I'd love Cora, don't know if the Dodgers non-tender him. I wouldn't if I were Depodesta.

What about Polanco?

Amezaga is a terrible, terrible hitter. We can't afford any more weak hitters in our lineup. I'd rather have Valdez than Amezaga...he's that bad of a hitter.

Another thing I was thinking of with AJ is the big complaint in SF is that he'd rather watch the Twins play than work with pitchers but that wouldn't happen here for the simple fact that in most times the Twins play the Sox are normally playing as well. So he wouldn't have time to f*** off like that. IMO

Just for SoxAce...

Gracias again Doug. :)
