Or just Scarlett Johannsen nekkid.

I'd probably pass out and miss the rest of the movie.

Scarlett nekkid is worth the $9.50.

Snatch. It's one of my favorites. It has some good action in it.

Pirates 2 was a blast. Love the music in it and not just the music the Sox use.

'Invincible' is a solid sports movie.

Hollywoodland was ok. It was good for the first 2/3's or so, but then it just draaaaaagggeeeedddddd ooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnn. The last 45 minutes seemed to take 2 hours.

Don't get me started on 'Snatch'. Great dialogue with lots if hilarious, classic lines. One of my all time favs.

Hell ya.

Crank was exactly what it looked like. Crap with a lot of action.

But was it hillarious. I can't wait till my friend goes back to working at the theatre on Wednesday so we can mooch free tix off him and see it. I'm thinking it will be better than Transporter 2 (and thats like my favorite movie of the past couple years). Based on the previous it looks ridiculously awful, which means it will be ridiuclously funny.

Jackass Number Two is good, brainless fun.

I just rented an australian movie called "the proposition". it takes place in the outback when australia was still being colonized. if you like dark westerns, its not too bad. i recommend it.

Also, i rented "Lucky # Slevin" too. It's so-so, the ending can be called out about half-way through but its pretty good.

I liked Slevin. Never saw the ending coming and this from a guy who predicted the end of Sixth Sense after the first scene.

Anyone see Gridiron Gang, Black Dahlia, or Hollywoodland? I may go see one this afternoon.

I saw Hollywood land. The first half was pretty good, the second just dragged on. I wouldn't recommend paying $8 to go see it, but it'd be a decent rental.

"The Illusionist" is pretty good. Edward Norton usually is. Unfortunately, e attempts some odd euro-accent that's unneccesary. It kind of comes and goes and distracted me.

Also, the antagonist (the crown prince) bears a resemblance to Jude Law. Kind of a Don Swayze v. Patrick Swayze resemblance. I pointed it out to my wife really early in the movie. She said "no way." By the end of the movie she wasn't sure if it was Jude himself. Same facial features and hairline, just a tad ugly.

i heard black dahlia was awful...

f*** depalma. Guy sucks, can't believe he gets jobs.

Any other horror fans looking forward to the release of "Feast" on DVD?

I've heard a lot of buzz about the move since its limited theatrical release last year. It'll be released on DVD October 17.

The way I look at it, I'm not expecting a film on par with "Evil Dead II" or "From Dusk Till Dawn." Cost a measly million dollars to finance this movie. Feast is just a lowbudget flick from Project Greenlight by legitimate fans of the genre. No worse than anything else Hollywood trots out.

Only if David Bowie stars in it.

So you didn't like Scarface or Carrie or Carlito's Way or The Untouchables at all?

Scarface - no

Carrie - no

Carlito's way - haven't seen

Untouchable - completely undercut by depalma, over the top in so many ways. The guy is the cecil b. demille of our era, completely superficial as a director. I hate him. He's lucky he had pacino and de niro and garcia and spacek.

You're right about one thing -- Brian DePalma is severly overrated. When I think of his movies, not Untouchables in particular, "over the top" does come into my mind. Scarface is one example. Another is his attempt at updating Hitchcock's "Rear Window.'" For the life of me I can't recall the title, but basically, this guy witnesses his neighbor murdered and decides himself to persue the killer. And what's better to persue a killer then becoming a f***ing pornstar and having the 80's song "Relax" played as a soundtrack to a scene.

EDIT: Name of movie is Body Double.

He's a coked up version of Michael Mann. Atleast Mann can effectively create an atmosphere within his movies without appearing too cheesy.

BTW, Carlito's Way is a quality film. I find it far more enjoyable than Scarface. Characters are more believable, story line isn't over sensationalized for the sake of shock-value.

I went and saw The Science of Sleep last night. Pretty good, in the same thematic vein as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind--but not as an exceptional film. It was good, though, and worth the price of admission--it definitely has a very European vibe to it, so if you're not a fan of foreign films I wouldn't advise this one.

Oh, and ladies, the lead actor, delicious. Probably the best looking thing I've seen onscreen in a very long time.

when i saw the film though, it kind of looked like 'indie film by numbers' which kind of undercuts the freedom of indie films in the first place.
