March 21, 200521 yr B-Mac could make MB Wally Pip........just kidding but someone in rotation.IE JG could go bye bye.
March 21, 200521 yr Wow...Barf.....Appropiate that this story broke, no pun intended on a Monday.... Edited March 21, 200521 yr by greasywheels121
March 21, 200521 yr Herm says MB's foot feels 100% better today. Getting another MRI. Not 100% sure about the stress fracture
March 21, 200521 yr MB came in today w/o the walking boot to see Herm. Put it back on, now going to get another MRI
March 21, 200521 yr QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) If it's that, he should be fine pretty soon, no? In terms of stress on it, is it any worse because it's his left foot? My guess is that's probably the least problematic spot for a hairline fracture for a left-handed pitcher. There may be a little discomfort...but most of the pressure is on the front toe and you're not coming down on it. I bet he's not out very long. As for BMac...wouldn't it be nice to finally have a young gun step up and produce. Seems like every other team does and there motto used to be: To beat the Sox...start and unknown rook! Shagging fly balls....you gotta be s***tin me!?!?
March 21, 200521 yr that was all Offman had from Herm. But it seems from Herm that the foot might not be fractured after all
March 21, 200521 yr QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) that was all Offman had from Herm. But it seems from Herm that the foot might not be fractured after all I hope this is true. I just heard about Buerhle....damn it! He's been pitching great this spring. I hope they don't rush him back if he's truly hurt.
March 21, 200521 yr This is a pretty depressing thread so let me add some more reasons to cry: http://baseball.espn.go.com/mlb/springStat...pitch&year=2005 Radke is struggling but he always does in ST & the 1st half. J Mays 1.29ERA, 3GS, 14IP. Nathan, Rincon are doing their thing. It looks like Mays is back to form. He's produced more at the ML level the past 4 yrs than El Duque, Garland, & Contreras. He's out performing Silva & Lohse so we might be seeing Mays slotted at #3. This really sucks. They get stronger & we get weaker. They should have let Pohlad contract his team.

March 21, 200521 yr His foot could still be fractured. But the fact that he was walking on it this AM w/o the boot on is good news. It's probably not as severe as first thought

March 21, 200521 yr I can just see McCarthy setting up banana peels in the outfield. "Hey Mark you wanna shag some flyballs?" Then tenting his fingers like Mr. Burns....

By running like a big clod in the outfield...or fartin around and coming down on it wrong. I wonder if he was on the main field or one of the practice fields? I play in a men's league that plays out at Peoria Sports complex after spring training ends...and on the practice fields...there's these HUGE friggin commercial sprinkler heads in the outfield that are dangerous as s*** IMO. I pitch and play center and I remember on a few occasions going after fly balls and stepping on the heads (not good with metal cleats). I also remember laying out for a ball scraping right across one (that felt good!). So I am kind of curious as to how it actually happened. Edited March 21, 200521 yr by Wanne

March 21, 200521 yr everybody i have a soultion. With buerhle being out 6 weeks maybe. We can bring in Billy Koch to start. He is ready to make the leap from closer to starter.
March 21, 200521 yr Latest ESPN 1000 update says it's the bone on the 5th (little) toe in his left foot, and that Buehrle is feeling great today and will have another bone scan and MRI this afternoon. Well this may have turned out to be the best scenerio there was, I've broken that toe before and while it hurts like a b**** when you do it, with a special shoe, in a week or ten days he should be throwing again and the majority of his discomfort will be covering 1st base and it should have very little effect on his delivery. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if only misses one start. PHEW!!!!!
March 21, 200521 yr Let's hope for the best with Mark but I have to say ... Santana, Radke, Mays, Silva, Lohse vs Garcia, Hernandez, BMac, Garland, Contreras doesn't look good at all for ChiSox fans. It took Santana 2 yrs of pen/starter experience to get his ERA < 5. We are expecting a hell of a lot from BMac. We were planning for BMac to get seasoned in AAA & then come up when El Duque goes on the DL (which we all know is going to happen!). Now, it looks like Cotts will fill that role later on.

March 21, 200521 yr With all the hand wringing going on about BMac, I thought I'd make a couple of points. All we've heard out of Arizona is that BMac is ready. That has come from Ozzie, from scouts, from opposing managers, from the hitters. Also, they aren't going to be jacking BMac around like they did with the 5th starters last year. He won't be pitching on 2 days rest, oe on 10 days rest. They'll put him in the rotation and let him take his turn. I'm excited Brandon's getting the opportunity and I believe he'll succeed.
March 21, 200521 yr The ChiSox will need a whole lot of luck to get out of April above 500. The ChiSox were long shots to win the division to start with so there's not as much pressure to win this year. Put BMac in at #3 & let him grow.

Who is this guy and why is he on a Sox thread if he bashes the Sox all the time???? Oh, and sorry to say they Sox are NOT a long shot to win the division. Whoever believes that probably believes the Tigers actually can win.
