There has to be a place in Oak Park that has it on tap, the Ale House on Oak Park Ave.? It is way better on tap, plus there is always extra curricular activity, especially if you have quickman along with to break the ice.

I'm thinking Guido was one of the guys I met in Chicago when I drove up from South Carolina for a KC weekend series in 2003. I know I met Killa, and I'm pretty sure Guido was with him. We went to some damn bar after the game, quite entertaining. I'm gonna have to plan another weekend series in August or so to come up.

Not putting in your closer with a 1-run lead and 3 outs needed is a VERY questionable move.

True, but let's look at the positives here. Getting Shingo to pitch more than 2 innings without giving up an ER is quite an achievement. Vizcaino too, even though he gave up 4H which ain't good.

It's not about Hermanson, it's about trying to reestablish Shingo as a reliever Ozzie can have some faith in. Look, we have a 10 game lead now with a lot of games to play. If Ozzie waits till someone gets hurt and our lead is cut in half, then there is 10X the pressure on Shingo.

You get Shingo going again, and suddenly our bullpen looks a whole lot better. Definitely a key going into the 2nd half of the year and the playoffs, in case something does happen to the "Herminator".

Why is a game in which we hold only a 1-run lead and that we can gain another game in the standings on Minnesota, Cleveland, AND Detroit if we win considered a "low risk" game?

He did come close to blowing it. But he came through when it mattered. You don't think that does anything for Shingo's confidence? As I said, even if we lose tonight, we're still up 9 games. I totally understand what Ozzie was doing. I don't see why you don't?

I don't see why you don't think there's a big difference between being 10 games up on the Twins and only 9. We should just go with our 2nd worst bullpen option instead of our closer because another game tacked onto our lead over the Twins doesn't matter much?

It was low risk for the following reasons:

 

1. We had, at that moment a 9.5 game lead.

2. We did have a lead in the game.

3. Even if Shingo gives up a run, we can still win the game.

 

All of these add up to "low risk" vs the relative "high reward" we get from having a bullpen with several confidant pitchers.

 

Also, I don't think Ozzie gives a rat's ass about second guessers, and he shouldn't. He's the man in charge and should do things his way until KW or JR decide otherwise.

Maybe i'm wrong. But i'm lookin ahead to August, September, and hopefully October. Do you really think we're gonna do anything with just Pollite, Cotts, Marte, and Hermanson? And who's to say Pollite, Cotts, and Hermanson don't come back to earth a little? I pray and hope they keep pitching lights out. But, to be a championship team, we need Shingo and Vizcaino. We need those guys in pressure situations. And tonight was a pressure situation. And I don't think there's a big difference between being up 10 games compared to 9.
