July 6, 200520 yr Duque can stay healthier then wood......i wouldnt take him, his durability is horrible
July 6, 200520 yr Kerry Wood is an average pitcher who gets a ton of hype. There's no way he'd be worth anything near what the Cubs would want for him, especially considering his durability, or lack thereof.
July 6, 200520 yr He may become a pretty good closer but since the Sox already have one...other than that nahhh no thanks...
July 6, 200520 yr I would give them Timo for Wood, because that would get Timo off of our roster and when Wood got hurt it would open up the roster spot so that Ozzie would have no choice but to put Gload in it.
July 6, 200520 yr cubs can keep the overpaid and overated SOB ,lets dont forget his best year is 14 win no thank you
July 6, 200520 yr "Kerry Wood is a big game pitcher" -Mike North Too bad game 7 of the 2003 NLCS wasn't a big game.
July 6, 200520 yr The only way I would trade for Wood is if three things happen. 1) Cubs pay half his remaining contract. 2) Cubs throw in one of the better pitching prospects. 3) Cubs don't ask for any MLB pitchers from our team in return.
July 6, 200520 yr the only place I could see him going in NY or Atlanta, because they are the only two teams who would risk it.
July 6, 200520 yr Depending on the cost, I would trade for him and make him the closer. I think he has been a mediocre starting pitcher his entire career, but I think he would be in the top 2 or 3 closers in baseball if placed in that position.
July 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) In a heartbeat. This team needs a true power pitcher. Wood doesn't throw any harder than Garcia or Contreras. There's no way I'd pay what the Cubs would want. I'm sure they'd demand minimally our top 2 prospects, and we'd end up paying his salary. That's too much for an inconsistent career NL pitcher with a bad injury history. Edited July 6, 200520 yr by ZoomSlowik
July 6, 200520 yr why the f*** would i want a damn cub on my team, not to mention a year round member of the disabled list

Um, not that I want to trade for him, because I don't, but Wood hit 98 MPH in his last outting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Freddy and Jose don't hit 98. Either way, Wood sucks and I don't want him.
July 6, 200520 yr QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) In a heartbeat. This team needs a true power pitcher. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Garcia? Contreras? Politte? Marte? Jenks? Wood can't throw f***ing strikes or stay healthy, and he is overpaid.
July 6, 200520 yr Does anyone else feel that if Jose Contreras struck out 20 in a game he would get the same amount of hype as Wood? Or would Contreras not get it because he didn't do it in his rookie season?
July 6, 200520 yr Garcia? Contreras? Politte? Marte? Jenks? Wood can't throw f***ing strikes or stay healthy, and he is overpaid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wood has more power than Garcia, Contreras has all sorts of special problems, and the others are relievers, one of whom has virtually no MLB experience (though I am very high on Jenks at the moment) Wood has demonstrated that, when healthy, he can lead a team to the playoffs (and that he can win in the playoffs...yes, there's Game 7, but he won his other playoff starts in a dominating fashion)
July 6, 200520 yr Nahh, don't want him. Injury history, wildness, inconsistency. The Sox have Contreras already.....
