Some notes from the game:

 

Iguchi didn't arrive until about an hour before the game and was replaced at 2B by Willie Harris. ... Pierzynski hadn't homered in 77 at-bats before his solo shot. Contreras won his third straight start and threw 86 pitches, his lowest total in a start since throwing 85 in six innings of a win over Tampa Bay on July 6. The White Sox have hit consecutive homers in a game 11 times this season. Contreras faced the minimum through six innings. The White Sox nine hole was 3-4 with Willie and the Gooch. Pierzynski now has 18 homeruns, the most in one season for him.

Great, great game tonight. It was very important to start this final month off with a win. Jose has been our best pitcher the last month or so. Another couple good starts and Ozzie will have a tough decision to make. Also, it's very important to start establishing some dominance at home again. Tonight was a positive step in that direction.

I was listening to the game on the radio earlier and Ed Farmer said that Iguchi was suffering from blurred vision, but would be available later on in the game.

Hmmm, I see a trend here. Maybe someone who is very important to the offense being out was the main reason for the skid the Sox went on in August?
