This is not the type of injury you get from steroid abuse. Those usually involve tendon or muscle problems (contractile tissue). Thome's injury was a ligament. (non-contractile). You can't definitely say it's not but it's very unlikely.

Not really, spring training doesn't mean all that much and Owens is still way to raw to be in the major leagues.  Give him a year in Charlotte then we'll see what happens in 07.

But Owens was insane in his AA season, he's hitting .400+ in a winter league, and Guillen specifically mentioned him in an interview earlier this month when discussing people he'd love to see on the team soon. Interesting that he did that, given his request for a #2 hitter, and the now-open OF spot.

 

I'd be willing to wager he gets an invite to ST, to compete for a slot.

Steroids, no way for Thome, but at least we will get to hear Hawk say "he is country strong" many times now.

Its got to be a speed guy.  Hell, I know a lot of people hate this name and I highly doubt the Sox want to spend the money.  However, Johnny Damon is now a candidate and would have a place to play.  I can't possibly see the Sox doing this, but you never know. 

Johnny Damon is totally out of the realm of possibilites and his name should never be mentionned here again. Here are a variety of reasons why

 

1. Scott Boras.

2. That contract Boras wants.

3. His age

4. Paul Konerko

5. He's not a speed guy.

I made up for that, by telling everyone that was bashing Konerko were a bunch of idiots and that he'd be one of the key reasons this team would win the series. I also pretty much dead on called how he would finish the season (statistically)
