QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 06:25 PM)
our starting pitching has been terrible so far

We're facing a superior hitting team who matches up well with our pitchers (even though they dominated them for the most part last year in terrible hitting conditions). Look around baseball.....a lot of starters suck so far.

It doesn't look fine........

thank the lord this inning is over

His stuff is fine. He's just got to get it over, find his rythem. 2-0 isn't horrible considering he was horrendous that inning. Time for someone to get on base and Thome to blast one.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:26 PM)
Buehrle wasn't terrible. Garcia fell apart for a game.

Contreras was a mixture of squeeze and THEN getting edgy. I think Contreras and Buehrle are fine. I wonder what's wrong with Garcia.

MB gave up 3 runs in 4 innings.

Regression to the mean I guess. There's no way these guys were going to keep pitching like they did at the end of last season.

I think Garcia has the old "dead arm" maybe from going hard at the WBC then cutting back. I think he will be fine. I also think we win this game.

One of them scored on a bad throw, and the other on a once-in-a-long-time homerun on a solid pitch.

Exactly Rowand. This is nothing like yesterday, I'd rather have the stuff be there and the control not be there than vise versa. It's a lot easier to find your control than to find your stuff.

s***!! I thought Pods hit that one outta here.

A lot of times the pitching takes a while to catch up to the hitting. Happens at the beginning of almost every season through out the league.

I'll give it a few more weeks before proclaiming that...

Pods swinging for the fences a bit too much

Pods thinks he is a power hitter now. He was putting the ball in the air yesterday like crazy.

Put it on the ground or hit a line drive. Get on base. That is your job, it is not to dong the ball.

That pitch Buehrle gave up the homer on was a BP fastball to a good hitter vs. lefties.

I always thought it was the other way around.

So, basically he gave up 3 runs in 4 innings.

What was he throwing at the WBC, speed-wise?

It is

Pods is going to be the wipping boy this season.

I think so too. Good thing we have Mackowiak.

Well, I suppose that means his status as a good pitcher is over. f*** Barry Zito and Andy Petite as well.

already 3 and done ok lets stop them

Wow, Thome just missed that one. Ok 1-2-3 inning, but we looked ok against Lee that inning, a solid grounder towards to hole, a flyout to the wall, and a just underneath it fly out. Should be ok if Count can calm down.

If he goes for the fences, sure he will be.

What makes him dangerous is to get on base, and to create havoc. We have more than enough guys to hit the dong.

In his rookie season he got on base, his 2nd season he got homer happy trying to do too much everything suffered. Last year he got back to getting on base, hopefully this year is not the year of Pods trying to hit the dong.

Everybody is a whipping boy on this board for the most part. Just a matter of when that is.

It looked to me like a pretty decent slider on the inner half that ended up leaving.

This team is good they will come around

Trust me the pitching is there.....

If the world series didnt show their guts then nothing will

Pods needs to try to set the table more...

At least Cliff Lee looked hittbale
