April 20, 200620 yr QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) O's now up 9-4. You know, for all the talk about our bullpen woes, there's is just as suspect--if not moreso. Things like this dont help the Tribe out much in the bullpen dept.
April 20, 200620 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Things like this dont help the Tribe out much in the bullpen dept. Wow. I didn't know Betancourt was hurt, too.
April 21, 200620 yr QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Wow. I didn't know Betancourt was hurt, too. Their game yesterday was almost as bad as the Cubs'. And they lost theirs too.
April 21, 200620 yr Nice to see us in 1st place all by ourselves. This weekend should be interesting though. We face some pretty good starters in Santana, Radke, and Silva while the Indians face the Royals.
April 21, 200620 yr QUOTE(Yoda @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Nice to see us in 1st place all by ourselves. This weekend should be interesting though. We face some pretty good starters in Santana, Radke, and Silva while the Indians face the Royals. Santana scares me like hell obviously. Radke and Silva should be interesting, both are guys with below average stuff who get by by not walking anybody and throwing strikes. Our guys have done a great job of being patient at the plate this year, but we need to attack Radke and Silva early in the count and often, because they will give you hittable pitches to try and get ahead in the count.
April 21, 200620 yr Doesnt Thome have numbers against Minnesota that are almost as insane as they were against the White Sox? I seem to remember that he was just as big as a Twin Killer as he was a Sox killer.
April 21, 200620 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 06:48 AM) Doesnt Thome have numbers against Minnesota that are almost as insane as they were against the White Sox? I seem to remember that he was just as big as a Twin Killer as he was a Sox killer. Thome has insane numbers against every team not named Cleveland. He basically raped and pillaged the whole division when he was with the Indians.
April 21, 200620 yr QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 08:48 AM) Thome has insane numbers against every team not named Cleveland. He basically raped and pillaged the whole division when he was with the Indians. Just another reason why the similarities between Thome and Hafner are so striking. They're basically the same player except Hafner has a higher batting average and a little less pop. Oh yeah and Hafner is just now comming into his own at the age of 28, Hafner had 76 career HRs through age 28 where as Thome already had 196.

I seem to remember that he was just as big as a Twin Killer as he was a Sox killer. I think you're right, but he hasn't faced the current pitchers, except Radke, a significant number of times. He's only 1/9 against Santana with 4 strikeouts. Here are his stats against the current Twins pitchers.
April 21, 200620 yr Betancourt has been placed on the dl. Cleveland is in trouble(well, not these next 3 games). That pitching staff isn't good as it is but now they've lost their best reliever imo for a period of time. They're going to struggle.
April 22, 200620 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 05:48 PM) Betancourt has been placed on the dl. Cleveland is in trouble(well, not these next 3 games). That pitching staff isn't good as it is but now they've lost their best reliever imo for a period of time. They're going to struggle. And while on this same subject it appears Matt Miller will be missing 4-6 months after surgery to repair his right flexor tendon. What a horrible day for the Indians, losing 2 of their best arms for an extended period of time. Edited April 22, 200620 yr by Kalapse
April 23, 200620 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) I love the Royals. They now have a win against some other team than the White Sox. Edited April 23, 200620 yr by Rowand44
April 23, 200620 yr QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 08:40 AM) Twins 0-5 vs the central this year. They have the Royals and Tigers coming up, I think that might change.
April 23, 200620 yr Hopefully Felix can out duel Verlander tonight. A Royals win over CLE would be nice, but I'm not hopeful
April 23, 200620 yr QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:34 AM) Hopefully Felix can out duel Verlander tonight. A Royals win over CLE would be nice, but I'm not hopeful That'll be a nice matchup in terms of studly young pitchers.
April 23, 200620 yr QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) The Tribe drops one to the Royals, 5-1. Well I dont feel so bad that the Sox dropped 2 in KC now
April 23, 200620 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Well I dont feel so bad that the Sox dropped 2 in KC now Yep, sometimes weird s*** just happens, that's baseball.
April 24, 200620 yr Who would have thought that the Royals were going to take 2 out of 3 from the Indians? Thank you KC . . .
April 24, 200620 yr Jason Michaels watch: .243/.300/.270 3 RBI's. To think, some people here thought he would be able to reproduce his Philly numbers over a full season.
April 24, 200620 yr QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Omar infante should never bat at all. Fixed.

To think, some people here thought he would be able to reproduce his Philly numbers over a full season. Paul Konerko (May 5th 2005) -- .190/.302/.430 -- To think some people here thought he would match his 40/117 performance from '04. Jermaine Dye (May 13th 2005) -- .192/.230/.358 -- To think some people here thought he could replace Maggs. /me thinks its a little early to be tossing around the "to thinks"

But then again, you coulda said the same thing about Pods if he struggled early last year.
