Bullpen has fewest innings pitched in AL

The starters actually have worked relatively deep into games, with the bullpen totaling 2151/3 innings, the fewest in the American League.

Considering the starters haven't been as lights out as last year, this is still a very important statistic as the year progresses. And since Riske and Politte were on the DL for part of the year and if Dustin can pitch *fingers crossed* we are going to have a pretty rested bullpen going into the postseason.

The starters may not be pitching into the 7th as much, but they are still getting some quality starts, which is a very important stat.

That stat has been true the whole freaking year. Which is why, a.) Jenks is the key to this bullpen, because a lot of days he's all we need, b.) the 11th guy out of the bullpen isn't that big of a deal because even guy 10 only gets limited innings, and c.) why we need the starting pitching to step it up the 2nd half, because we're going to win or lose on their backs.

I didn't even realize that they had the lowest amount of innings as a pen, especially after last night. :)

Now if a starting pitcher comes in for relief do those innings count for starting pitching or for relief?

They would count as relief.

Yea, but it begs the question: are the starters being overworked?

Not claiming they are, just throwing that out there.

Well, there have been complaints on here that they don't go deep enough into games...

the only guy that might not be getting enough innings...and I guess polite...

HAIL NO

any ballgame not in the 19th inning or a run differential of atleast 4 runs where Politte gets in is too many
