This thread is losing steam lately. What's new and interesting??

best band I've heard this year is a local LA band:

The Automatic Music Explosion.

scroll down the page - the songs posted are new (the promo is good), but the videos are of the songs I like. "Cmon cmon" is a masterpiece. "16 years" is great too. They're first album was just recorded by the guy who discovered Blondie - comes out next year. Best live show I've seen for a local band.

Upon first listen of the new Avenged Sevenfold, it's pretty good. It's not blowing me away but it's pretty solid.

Best songs:

"Critical Acclaim"

"Afterlife" The solo at the end = \m/

"Lost"

"Dear God"

There's one song on the album, I cant decide if I love it or hate it haha. It's very theatrical, and kinda weird.

It's not as good as City of Evil or Waking the Fallen (which is their masterpiece, so how can you top that?)

Dillinger Four are AWESOME.

And the Bollweevils are still around? My high school band played with them once!

Bad Brains, Stiff Little Fingers and 7 Seconds don't get bolded letters? I for one would be hoping that Raygun joins SLF for a rousing version of "Suspect Device"!

I never really was too into any of those bands, just a song or two here and there.

In fact, I don't really know if I've ever heard a Bad Brains song.

(That might belong in the "well, I never...." thread)

I'm all about covers today.

Cold War Kids doing "Electioneering." Yum.

Nostalgia 77 doing "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes. I actually had to look up the song and see if the White Stripes covered these guys, because it sounds like the song should have from the beginning.

Song of the moment for me:

"Feathers" Coheed and Cambria

The rest of the new album is okay, nothing too crazy-good. I dont think they're gonna be able to top "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth"

Oh, do yourself a favor and get ahold of the tunes "Banned in DC", "Pay To Cum", most of the early stuff, and the I Against I album.

Pat Green :headbang Awesome show. You will have a great time. Is Willie doing a full set or just dropping in for a cameo and the duet they did on Pat Green's Three Days CD?

seeing The Pipettes tonight - 60s girl-group style done in modern Brit/indie context. Love them.

Anyone going to see QOTSA tonight?

'Gravemakers & Gunslingers' is my favorite track

Have you heard "Second Stage Turbine Blade"? Just asking because I like it far more than IKSoSE

This weekend I'm finally gonna get a chance to see Glassjaw \m/

Unless of course the show gets cancelled, like so many of them have been in the past. Glassjaw is one of those bands I got into kind of late and was afraid I was never gonna get a chance to see them cause theyhad been on "hiatus" for such a long period of time...

From what I understand, Willie's supposed to be the headliner. Not totally sure because my girlfriend got the tickets. So, I'll be Texas bound in the morning.

Yea I like second stage... 33, Junesong Provision and Everything Evil are the stand out tracks for me.

I rank the albums basically in order of how they came out just switching In keeping Secrets to the top...

Iam really feelin Serj Tankjian new album. It is definetly softer than SOA DOWN past albums but I never really liked that other guys screechy voice in their songs.

If you have a couple of minutes to kill this is painful:

Good stuff. "The long haired, cheesebag anthem". :lolhitting

I didn't realize Bad Brains was still together.
