September 26, 200718 yr QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) I think you meant to call him an icon. I think he was spot on.
September 26, 200718 yr Would wearing a Sox jersey be almost troll like? If SS was the hall monitor, a kid wearing a Sox jersey would be *banned* before he crossed the threshold
September 26, 200718 yr QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) The more I think about this, the better the teaching moment becomes. And I really like the blue shirt solution. Son, you do not have to cheer, but respect that they are enjoying winning, and don't piss on it. Their enjoyment doesn't mean you lose. Wow. If only a few religions, political parties, and other ideologs would understand that. I totally agree. Teach the kid to respect others. I, however, will be rooting for another Bartman-like collapse because my parents failed in this area.
September 26, 200718 yr QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) I, however, will be rooting for another Bartman-like collapse because my parents failed in this area. I really wanted a last day of the season, bottom of the tenth, loss. But I just want to help them keep that lovable loser mantra.
September 26, 200718 yr Tough one since I'm not a parent. Have him skip school that day, take him to Grandstand and buy him some Sox gear. Seriously though, ask him what he wants to do. Kids are the most bandwagon fans of all. He might actually claim to be a Cub fan right now and who cares, he's only in 3rd grade.
September 26, 200718 yr I definitely wouldn't send him in anything Cubs related because childhood is when you develop your fanatic roots. My uncle bought me a Tigers jersey when I was little and for the longest time I thought I could like the Tigers and White Sox. My mom even bought me a Kerry Wood jersey in 98 after he threw 20 Ks and for just a few months I actually watched the Cubs on WGN and rooted for them! Don't let this happen to your sweet and innocent child.
September 26, 200718 yr He should wear a red shirt and blue pants. That way he looks like he's contributing, but really isn't.
September 26, 200718 yr QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) Just call in a bomb threat that morning. I gotta go with this one.
September 26, 200718 yr Well-played Steve and Buffalo. No well-played for Raines even though his joke was a top two joke in this thread.
September 27, 200718 yr By 3rd grade I would have made the decision on my own to wear Sox stuff. Send him in a Marlins 2003 WS Champs shirt.
September 27, 200718 yr Ribbie, you should lend him your shirt with the rainbow design. You know, the one that is pretty much a staple of your wardrobe. That way, he'll fit right in on "Cub Pride" day.
September 27, 200718 yr I say let him wear the Cubs logo proudly. With slight modifications of course. Come on Brew Crew, pick it up and keep the Century of Futility alive on th North Side.
September 27, 200718 yr Buy him a custom made Bartman t-shirt. Edited September 27, 200718 yr by BobDylan
