That's what sucks about watching it On Demand. No previews at the end.

The episode was kind of slow but I thought the ending was great. It was clear to me but I had to explain to the wife that it was a flashback/flashforward. The thing about the Jin story is it leaves the writer's the option of keeping him alive. The date on the tombstone is not really relevant as it just could mean he does not get off the island. Sun yelling his name is another thing as she would not have called for him necessarily if he was dead but she could still be holding out hope. Hurley as well seemed odd...

The thing that irritated me about the episode was that I thought Jin and Sun already fought over the affair. Didn't Jin question this when Sun was preganat and get over it? Wasn't that why Jin wanted to leave the island and build the raft with Sawyer and Michael? Didn't Jin kill the guy already? I thought this issue was cleared up already......

Can anyone clarify the status of the show after this weeks episode? I have heard about a hiatus after episode 8 of the season, which is this week.

i think it's off till mid-april then more episodes through the end or the season.

It's already the 8th episode? Jeesh....I thought we were on episode 5 or something...

From what I understand, they had 8 episodes done before the writer's strike. They are in production for 5 more now.

So if the show starts back up in April, we will have 5 more episodes this season. The remaining 3 episodes that were planned for this season will be incorporated into the next two seasons.

yeah, there will be only 13 episodes this season instead of the 16 that were originally planned. the writer's have said they will work the three "lost" episodes in over the course of the final two seasons, so we'll still get 48 total.

Reding a blog there was a cool case of why the 6 were choosen. The theory was that in the end Ben allowed them to leave because of sacrificies given up;

Juliet gave up Jack

Sawyer gave up Kate

Jin gave up Sun

Claire gave up Aaron

Those made sense to me the others are my speculations

Sayid gave up his free will

Hugo gave up $3.2M to Ben to pay off Miles

In the end I do believe Ben is the guy in charge and makes the decisions.

Wow, that is very interesting stuff. It makes sense, I will say that much. I can't wait to see how this plays out. I really feel like this is the greatest show of all time.

It is. No show has ever gotten more people more involved. There is no reason not to have 100% trust in the writers, but they could do a million different things with the ending to make it great, so they better not screw it up.

They could Soprano the ending, but up to this point, I have never HAD to watch a show like I do with this one.

Assuming that theory was true (and it certainly works and makes sense) and seeing as how they've said Aaron is not one of the 6, what could be another person getting off with this theory still in place? Locke gives up the island? Could the 6th be Walt, with Michael having given him up?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 12:07 PM)
After looking at it a little more, I think Aaron is one of the 6. The "Oceaianic Six" is not really an official title for anything, rather just a phrase the media obviously came up with it. Because there were six humans that got off the island(as far as we know, Jack-Kate-Hugo-Sayid-Sun-Aaron) they became the 6. I really thought because Aaron never physically was on the plane, and that he never had a ticket, he couldn't be part of it, but it's not really a very technical term when you look at it big picture.

If you go by Jack's testimony, he said something to the effect of "8 people survived the crash and two later died." It would be odd to say that an unborn child survived the crash the way he said it.

BTW, the Lostpedia is ridiculous. I particularly like this "literary device" they use in certain episodes:

WARNING, STRONG LANGUAGE

I think this show had to be written from start to finish before airing or at least the the main storyline and gist of the island. The writers have the next two seasons laid out it is simply filling in the space and creating the dialouge. Should they decide to go in a different direction I guess they could but I beleive they have the ending all figured out. This is to hard to sketch out one episode or season at a time.

They have claimed from the beginning that the "Adam & Eve" skeletons found in Season 1 will show that they knew where the story was going to end the entire time.

very true. plus, i remember from the first series dvd extras hearing abrams talk about how he and lindelhof essentially sketched out the entire story arc in their first meeting. things have changed since then (like ben becoming a major character) but supposedly the whole premise has been the same from the beginning.

i know some people are skeptical of this but i do believe it. it explains some of the weaknesses in the show last year. i think they got to a point where they were just kind of killing time and not really sure how long it was going to take them to get where they need to go. that's why it was so key to put an endpoint, because now they can start working towards that end.

Without an end point the show is Gilligan's Island with bad people. I would bet that the outline is complete and like you said they are just trying to keep in interesting and rake in dough until it is all finished. The sub-plots I think are the hit or miss pieces.

I still think the last episode is going to have to be two straight hours (no commercials) of the creators in a room with white boards and power points explaining everything.

The main story line will wrap up nicely, but I think there will be some sub plots here and there that don't get fully explained.

finishing this show is going to be extremely hard. if they can pull off a great ending and keep the majority of the people satisfied, that will be their greatest accomplishment, imo.

i am skeptical they can pull it off, but hopeful.

April 24th? Ugh, are you kidding me....

As long as they don't wait till the last season to start answering those pesky little questions and start early enough then they should be able to answer most of them without forcing all the answers into one or two ending episodes.

Michael and Time Travel:

There was a theory that michael leaving on a heading of 325 caused them to somehow travel through time. Here is as best as I can gather.

According to lostpedia, Michael and Walt left the island on November 27, 2004.

Now, they probably weren't rescued until November 28th or 29th. Travel back to the "mainland" wold be around Dec 1st. When he drove into the dumpster, it seemed as if he had at least been back a few days if not longer. So, let's say Dec 5th. Recovery time fo at least a week... December 12th. A few weeks a see... sets it ROUGHLY around the time the helecopter returned to the island.

The time table is VERY tight. Almost a little TOO tight.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 10:51 AM)
Correct.

Also in the previews they say that someone dies next week.

My money's on either Claire / Jin, Rosseau the French Woman or Karl.

Oh damn I'm good. :D

Remember, Christmas stuff was at the hospital. X-Mas stuff is put out early, but that was obviously a hint.

Very solid episode, but I am insanly mad they killed Rosseau. To me she was one of the best characters on the show, and there was SO much left to be told about her situation. Her death won't stop them from telling her story, but I just hate that she is gone. I just got done watching, so I need some more time to gather my thoughts. :lol:

Is she Locke dead or Mr. Ecko dead? I think Carl is gone. I am not sure why they would kill either of them they looked like they could have a good point to the story but who knows.

The Michael timeline is tough if you remember his mother said that he dropped Walt off and was gone for 2 months correct? I guess the 2 months could have been from the time he left to get Walt until he returns I need to read thsi again.

The time travel thing is kind of irritating. I think Tom removed the firing pin or something with the gun to try and deceive Michael.

I liked the episode but the Sayid move was odd. He is quite the windsock when it comes to trusting someone, kind of like Jack.

Time to go blogging for information.

Well according to Soxtalk, the next time Lost airs the Sox will be mathimatically eliminated

Technically....noone confirmed her dead so we'll have to wait and see. I don't think she is as she still has (IMO) a part to play in the whole thing. Then again....maybe she can play her part from beyond the grave.

Question is...was it the Others who took her out and did Ben plan on that happening???

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 02:50 PM)
Thats what I don't understand. As far as we know, the no one had left the Freighter, so who was on the island? To really stretch it, and something I thought about last night, I think last episode Sayid was looking for Frank, and he asked someone where he was. They said "He had to run an errand with the chopper...". Now I am still a little confused about time on/off the island, but could it have been him that did that the shooting, the fly back, and since time is behind on the boat, or time is forward on the island(whatever way you look at it) I suppose that could make some sense. Who knows.

I still really want to know about the Alex/Ben/Rosseau thing. In last nights episode, when Ben said "Go with your mother", all she did was agree and left with Alex. Is he really her dad? Why have Rosseau and Ben not gotten into a huge fight?

Rosseau has nailed Ben with a right hook or two since getting her daughter back and railed on him for stealing her. Ben is not the daddy. Frank is the only person on the show last night who wasn't accounted for so maybe he could have done the shooting but (even in Lost's world) it would be highly improbable that he happened to be laying in wait in the one spot on the whole freakin' island to get a shot at them. However i think maybe he did some scout work for the attack on the village we see in the trailers for next week.

Pretty sure the whole thing was Ben's idea all along.

He wants Karl out of the picture because he doesn't want Alex getting pregnant on the island. And taking Rousseau out makes Ben the only family Alex has left.

So somehow he would have communicated with the "others" at the Temple to take those 2 out by sniper fire. Kind of like how Juliet was told to stop Daniel and Charlotte. Maybe it has something to do with the smoke mosnter, I don't know.

Don't think it was anyone from the freighter (unless somehow Frank the pilot flew some more guys in, is the only theory I could think of there).
