I think Lillibridge as nothing more then a utility/situational player after I've seen him play and looked at his minor league stats. And I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the league doesn't think too highly of Lillibridge.

Also, Lillibridge's inclusion is kind of odd. How many MIF prospects do we need? Maybe some of the posters really aren't dreaming and we really are after Peavy? Or else we're after Roberts, or something. Or, as someone else suggested, the Sox plan to move Lillibridge to CF.

 

It will be very interesting to see how this shakes out.

It wasn't really that long ago when we had pretty much NO infield prospects. Danny Richar and some scraps.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but I guess Flowers got busted for PED's in 2006. I really hope that his positive test results are from him taking some sort of supplement that he didn't realize was on the banned list.

 

If it's Lillibridge, Flowers, and Morton, that's a great deal. If it's Lillibridge, Flowers, Morton, and another player, damn this was a hell of a deal. As most people know, I have been in favor of keeping Vazquez, but when you practically get 4 for 1 (I don't count Boone, he was as good as gone), and 3 of those 4 are players like Lillibridge, Flowers, and Morton, that's a good ass deal.

He showed very good power this year in the AFL so I don't think it's much of an issue.

Yeah I don't count Logan either. He's got a great arm and has a chance to be a dominant setup man, basically doing for us close to what Damaso Marte did back when he was the hottest s*** around, but there was no chance in hell Boone was going to do it here. He needed a change of scenery.

was just coming here to post this after watching mortons highlights....his stuff is good...good curve, flashed a good change, and even threw a slider in there at 84...stuff and delivery wise reminded me alot of gavin but with less tail to the 2 seamer...looked like he was already throwing a cutter...from what i saw i liked this kid more than boone logan thats for damn sure

Agree. The velocity thing is good only if there are secondary pitches to go with it. If we do get him, then this isn't another Masset.

this type of thing is usually only available to monied people (Bonds, Sheffield, Marion Jones, Tim montgomery etc.). So unless he has personal connection I would doubt it but in today's sports world, I hope KW did the due diligence.

Yeah, that is what is so odd. And actually, back then Shelby was still a 2B prospect. So of our 3 best 2B prospects, we traded one 2B, moved another to the OF, and kept Getz. Now Getz is at the bottom of the long-term depth chart, or near it at least, so talk about a turn-around in the span of little more than one year...

So are we getting three players back or four? I can't wait until we hear the official word. If we receive a four-player package, then this is an excellent trade IMO.

sox website now says we are getting 4 back...so thats what im going to assume...it also sounds as if 2 of them are certainly going to be lillibridge and flowers...

I really like it. A strong farm system, and in so little time, who knew? We actually have bullets to make real trades now if we wanted. We still have holes to fill at the MLB level now obviously but it's only December.

I think Lillibridge is a very good player who we were fortunate to pick up on a bounce.

 

Scouting reports suggest he profiles as an ideal #2 hitter. 10-15 homerun power with above average OBP potential. Serious wheels... 40-50 stolen bases per year. Very good defensive SS with a plus arm. (One report called him 'Khalil Greene lite with better OBP'.)

 

He moved through the minors pretty quickly, but hit a snag this year moving back and forth between AAA and the majors. Maybe this turns out to be a Kenny-special.

i was really liking the idea of having morton be our next floyd.

 

i hope we get him still... although, i know nothing about these other names.

gilmore was a sandwich pick just a year ago out of high school....and he hit .337 last year in rookie ball...0 plate discipline but the kid is still only 20

Hey now, I am on record several times on this site saying Kenny could turn our system around almost instantly simply by trading our veterans...not many agreed....

BTW, our vacant 2B spot has an open competition between Lilli, Getz and Nix. Pretty good talent there.

santos is a 20 year old reliever who was in rookie ball last year and had a pretty sick K rate...45 K in 29 IP in 2008 (to go along with 0 HR), and 35 K in 28 IP in 2007
