That was a terrible officiating crew in the Packers-Cards game. There was atleast one horse collar penalty that should not have been called - you can grab someone by the collar, but you can't tackle them from the collar. If that's not how the rule is interpreted, then it's more ticky-tacky than roughing the passer. And there was also a defensive holding call against Michael Adams late in the game that I didn't think even happened. He had his arm in front of him, and arm behind him, and the receiver - I think it was Driver - had full range of motion to do what he wanted and Adams was just playing him tight. Adams knocked the ball away at the exact right moment, and it looked like a clean play. Maybe I need to see a replay to actually see a hold, but I didn't see anything.

As (I think) being the lone USC fan here, I will say that obviously I'm disappointed. I love Pete. I love everything he has done for that program. He's a great guy and very well liked by the SC fans.

 

Then again, I can't blame him. IIRC, he just got a $3m per year raise, and he's going to a new challenge. What more can he accomplish at USC? From 2001 until now, he's won 97 games, 7 P10 titles, 1 BCS national title, has had 2 Heisman winners, and has went 7-2 in bowl games.

at what cost Brian. What if the NCAA tells USC to vacate a portion of those victories? The bowls, the championships, the accolades. Then you have a probation period in which USC isnt bowl eligible and the recruiting goes into the toilet and you end up right back to where you started.

LOL. Just because you're a "fan" doesn't mean you have to be so blind.

 

First, he's leaving because the hammer is about to drop at USC due to his and the school's shenanigans, not because there isn't any more to accomplish at USC. He had it made there and doesn't really need a little extra money. If he wanted a raise he would have left a long time ago.

 

He's also done the NFL thing before, so this isn't really a completely new challenge. He became a stud at USC not because of his X's and O's, but his recruiting. You don't recruit in the NFL. It will be much harder for him to have success in the NFL with much of it being out of his hands.

 

He might be jumping off USC before it really starts heading south. In which case, smart career move.

Couldn't agree more. The horse-collar penalty is already one that is being botched on a regular basis.

Seriously, Adams didn't have a good game, but there's only so much you can do when you are being hit from both sides. It's sweet karma that he forced the game ending fumble.

 

The Cardinals the past two postseasons have been absolutely money. If not for the last drive last year, this team would have won 5 straight postseason games. Gotta play better defense against the Saints though (which I think they actually will do).

I like Forsett, I think they are fine with him at the lead back and Julius Jones backing him up.

 

Seneca Wallace also needs to be utilized in a wildcat package more, I like what he can bring to their offense. No QB they select in round 1 is going to help them, their best bet is to go with 2/3 of Okung, Trent Williams and Anthony Davis. Then they can taking someone like Chad Jones in the 3rd round or if they want to, Mays or maybe Berry in the 1st.

 

They have some options with those two first round picks, which is good.

He is an exceptional defensive mind. You guys aren't giving him enough credit and he really didn't fail with the Jets/Patriots. Was he a huge success no, but to call him a failure is inaccurate.

 

The guy is a very good coach.

Bears have reportedly not made an offer to Fewell. The Giants reporters are thinking this is a great sign for the Giants chances of getting Fewell.

 

If the Bears miss out here, they will really be taking some PR hits. They've already whiffed on there 1st two choices for OC and Fewell certainly seems like the #1 choice for DC.
