But while watching it, I repeatedly find myself wondering why they haven't made a miniseries or epic based on George Washington's life. Someone pointed out to me that there was a movie in the 1980's starring Barry Bostwick as Washington, but that doesn't exactly cut the mustard for me. With all of the epic movies and miniseries in the recent past, why haven't they done one about the man who most consider the greatest American ever? Its basically the story of the "winning" of the west, through the lens of the life of Kit Carson. Fantastic book. And that John Adams book is also quite good. Robert Zemeckis is remaking the Beatles "Yellow Submarine" using his motion capture style ala Beowulf and Polar Expess. The Beatles and Apple Corps are involved in the production. Pixar's first live action film "John Carter of Mars" will open Summer 2012. But the biggest news occurred when Johnny Depp come out on stage dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow and annouced that Pirates 4 will start filiming next year and open May 2011! Carson is built more or less like Harvey Keitel - on the short side, stocky/beefy, craggy face. Most of your action hero types don't fit that. The 1980's Washington with Bostwick is actually very underrated and very good. I remember watching it as a kid with my dad. It is worth a viewing.
