Alex Rios currently has an .890 OPS; this is the first time his OPS has been this high, this late in the season since 2007.

JJ Putz is currently sporting a 2.70 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 12.6 K/9, 1.8 BB/9 and 7.0 K/BB in 10 IP this year.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 6, 2010 -> 01:01 AM)

Santos realizes there will be a run scored against him at some point during this season. But again, he's prepared.

"Everything happens for a reason," Santos said. "If God wants to humble me a bit or whatever he has got in his plans, then so be it."

Who said you have to eventually give up a run Sergio? You could just not give up one all season, that'd be fine.

One would think we will start to see quite a few more Rios jerseys popping up at the Cell this year...

Rios is looking good, I think this our park will be good to him, a new born son can only help too.

Rios looks like he's very comfortable at the plate...a big improvement over last year. He's playing like the player we expected, and maybe even a little better. He's batting over .300, and a few HRs, and has been good in situational/pressure situations. Plus, he's a legitimate center fielder, something the Sox haven't had in quite a while.

The Blue Jays even expected him to show more pop than what they got out of him.

Remember this people. The Sox are hitting terrible with runners in scoring position, terrible with no one on base and our starters (outside of Danks) all are putting up numbers worse than there careers have indicated.

That won't keep up and once the averages work out we will than have an idea of what are team will look like.

A friend just emailed me this:

Grounding into double plays is, of course, detrimental to success, but

a team with a lot of GIDPs can take solace in the fact that it likely

has a lot of men on base — except the White Sox. Chicago is fifth in

the majors in GIDPs (31) but only 26th in OBP (.313).

Rios' WAR: 1.3 :D

Putz's xFIP: 1.83

You know why this bullpen is bad? It's because Ozzie keeps trotting out Linebrink and Williams instead of Santos and Putz.

Santos and Putz have a combined 20 innings under their belt while Linebrink and Williams have 22. Those 42 innings should be distributed a lot more towards Putz and Santos.

In his last good year (2008), Rios sported a 21.0 UZR. That is F'in sexy. Yup he will be patrolling CF for a few years.

I heard that on B & B as well, that someone wth credentials was a little too drinky in the clubhouse...

It was Harry Teinowitz from ESPN 1000.

What's with you and the bottom quoting lately.

There's something wrong with how I'm set up. I can't put the cursor underneath. It sucks. One of the mods suggested a few things, but nothing has worked.

Stop using netscape as your internet browser.

Big Frank will be in the booth with Hawk next weekend in KC.

Absolutely nothing! (Respnnding to war, what is it good for? query)

Wonder if KW will be a guest in the booth with Big Hurt and Hawk? That would be great to see. Well, anything we can do to improve ratings would be worth trying, to get some renewed interest forming around the team after quite a few fans have already started tuning out.

We're amazingly behind BOTH the Orioles and Rays now in attendance (#21 overall), which has to be causing some sleepless nights in the ticket office as well as F.O. and marketing department. Tampa Bay, you could sort of understand, but BALT?

The Sox are going to rightfully baby Santos. This is second year of pitching, and he went through a sore arm last year.

What type of arm issues?

His arm was sore from not having pitched for years.

interesting comment by Buehrle on his struggles:

"You hope so, but sometimes if you're losing stuff and the league's catching up to you, you're going to give up hits," he said. "When guys are on base, I have to try to get that ground ball for a double play or not give up that big inning."
