BTW, who was complaining the other day about nothing to talk about?

That would be me. Hey, at least this is something, no matter how trivial.

Here's the intro to David Haugh's piece this morning...

If I am Adam Dunn and new to the White Sox clubhouse, I am remaining guarded during any private meetings with manager Ozzie Guillen.

I would fear that anything shared there wouldn't stay there.

If I am newly re-signed Paul Konerko, I am wondering if the distractions he acknowledged sapped the team's energy last summer already threaten to muddy a promising 2011. Especially after he turned down richer offers to be a part of it.

If I am Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, I am beginning to wonder if Ozzie Guillen is really worth all this tangential nonsense no matter how good of a manager he is.

That's the collateral damage of the latest Twitter firestorm created by Oney Guillen, who is ruining Take Your Son To Work Day for everyone else.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 06:19 AM)
OK, but then how did he know about the marital problems and the drinking problems and the self diagnosis fantom injury? You don't really believe Oney is being straight when saying he doesn't discuss any White Sox stuff with Ozzie do you? Its not like Ozzie has ever been known to keep secrets. KW doesn't even discuss what he's working on with him anymore because Ozzie eventually leaks it. That said, I think everything will be fine if Ozzie steps up and gets Oney out of the picture once and for all.

I dont think any of this has to do with Ozzie "leaking" information. Oney has been friends with Bobby for 5 years socially and knows and speaks with alot of the players. He knows this stuff first hand, not "over the dinner table" like people seem to think.

is there a way to hear the bernstein interview?

A potential deadline free agent (with a NTC) weighing his options might not know those specifics and just assume a lot of this is on Ozzie.

Players actually really like Ozzie for the most part, and if Oney Guillen's twitter account is your #1 reason keeping you from moving to a contending team at the deadline, you probably suck anyway.

Not according to player polls of who they'd like to play for. He came in dead last.

They polled every player and had them rate every manager in the game? Or just asked a small sample to write down who they would like to play for and he got the least amount of write in votes?

It was a sample of 100 random players. The question was who you'd LEAST like to play for and he came in first.

Interesting bar room discussion material which means absolutely nothing in the real world.

I don't see how you could say that. This poll indicates quite clearly that there are quite a few players out there that would never want to play for an Ozzie led club.

So he came to mind when a few players were asked. Basically meaning nothing. Ozzie is a players manager, mostly because its one of his only strengths.

I'm sure this twitter crap with his son will strengthen that image.

Who is the last manager you’d play for?

1. Ozzie Guillen: 30%

2. Lou Pinella: 29%

3. Tony LaRussa: 7%

4. Dusty Baker: 5%

T5. Five managers tied with 3%

T10. Seven managers tied with 2%

And Lou Piniella, and Tony LaRussa.

Good poll.

Players arent message board hounds that read everything and care about everything on the internet. I think you have them mistaken with fans. I know a player that hasnt picked up a news paper in over 5 years. They dont care as much as you think they do.

Message board? This was on EPSN.com's front page.

When fellow players' dirty laundry is aired, they care.

Its still on there? And I didnt say read on a message board, I said message board hounds, you know, like us.

Players just dont give a crap about the media as much as you think they do. Oney Guillen's twitter page is probably the 1000th thing that a FA would consider when looking for a team. There are worse things printed in the NY post.

Not on their front page but in their main page for mlb.

See for yourself.

I'm more than done with this twit.

Oney is an embarrassment, a moron. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by going public with his "stories" about Jenks and defending... daddy.

And I'm also more than sick of people dissing Bobby Jenks--we would not have won the WS in 2005 if it were not for that guy. He gave us years of quality pitching--Jesus H. F***ing Christ... he has one bad year and the knives come out. That's Cub fan s***.

As for people defending Oney because he's defending daddy--whatever. Oney is a f**ing moron and a liability. If you want to have the first half soap opera of 2010 all over again in 2011, even with our dream team in place, just keep making excuses for Oney. Because that is exactly what is going to happen.

He's not a player, a manager or somebody with any kind of worthwhile perspective. He's a loser. A parasite. The sooner we don't have to hear from him, the better.

And this is why this story is so stupid. I applaud this post.

And here's Sports Illustrated

Keep googling, I didnt say you couldnt find the story on the internet, fact is the players arent doing the same thing. Play for the yankees one season and if you are that sensitive, you wouldnt last.

Players don't read websites like ESPN or Sports Illustrated?
