I need some CD ripping advice.

I want to go through and rip all of my CDs to an external hard drive. I have decided that I am going to rip each CD to a FLAC file and an MP3 file. I found software that can do BOTH at the same time on a Mac. Here's my quandry, it gives me the option to include the track number in front of the file name. So, each file would be [track number] [song title].mp3. I am not sure I like that because if i try to sort the files by name, it will sort by track number, not song title.

Should I include the track number? The FLAC and MP3 files will include all of the album data embedded in them, so i wont lose the correct order.

I'd assume this depends on the software used. The mp3 files should contain the track number regardless of whether it's in the song title or not.

I hope you have a lot if storage space, because FLAC files are huge.

I do, and I dont have a lot of CDs. Plus, FLAC is much smaller than WAV files.

OK, so I recently deleted a folder of songs from my computer on accident. They're gone for good, so don't even worry about restoring them. I used a program a few years ago when my computer crashed to take the songs from my iPod and put them back on the computer. I want to do that again, so that I don't have to go and download every single song I lost.

My question is this. Are there any free programs like this? The one I used made me sign up for a one-year subscription for 30 bucks. That time frame has passed and I would rather not have to pay.

You shouldn't need a program. Check the Apple support forums, there should be instructions there. I have done it several times but I can't remember the steps.

Ah, thanks. I was under the impression for a while that it was only computer->iPod.

And that .gif is hilarious.

I just have to vent about this, but I am feeling more and more vindicated every day.

About a month ago, I was informed by my "supervisor" (more on that in a minute) that my time and pay was being cut by 25%. He said many people (aka he and our board) did not feel my job was a full time position. In my 6+ years working here, I have had one performance evaluation and literally a handful of meetings with my supervision. (Seriously, probably one or two meetings a YEAR) There was an outcry by many connected to the organization that what was being done was complete BS and unethical/illegal. As a result, my "supervisor" and I now have weekly meetings to go over various topics. Our first two meeting were about my job description and all of the duties I perform here. We've never gone over my job description since I 've started and he commented "this is really poorly worded"... yea, I didnt write it! He also added that after looking over everything I do that it has been "eye opening".

It's just sad and depressing that a decision was made by someone who rarely ever "supervises" me, and it ends up that he never really knew what I do. And, it's too late to reinstate my full time status since next years budget has already been approved. But, i feel vindicated that the outrage was justifed, but it doesnt mean much in the end.

That does suck. Sounds like a "meeting with the Bobs."

Except the "Bobs" were new management. This guys been hear for almost 20 years. In 6 years, he has had no clue what I do.

I should note that a similar thing happened to a co-worked of mine too.

Just to show you how out of touch this person is, when I told him that a 25% cut in pay would be "life altering" (as some described it), he seemed completely shocked and seemed stunned that I would have to consider finding a job somewhere else. He seemed sure my co-worker and I would stick around and just deal with the cut in pay.

Clueless higher-ups making dumb decisions and then are shocked to learn that said decisions lead to lost business and/or employees?

Sounds about right.

My last place of employment decided to merge with a competitor and move all their work to Florida.

Then proceeded to lose 40% of their clients who were unhappy with the move.

I think I have run out of websites to lurk and I have 2.5 hours left.

I have been on this board hundreds of time... just me... no users... no guests... eerie in a way. Generally this in the case between 3:45 and 5:15am. Shortly there after things start getting back into motion.

Pale hose talk has got to be one of the very worst little sections in all of the internet. If it's not on a list currently... well it should be. All it seems i read over there is one vacuous thought after another. I couldn't think up these harebrained thoughts if i tried. Unreal. Though i must say the nba thread, as per usual, is still the same laughing stock it has nearly always been. Pretty certain most post in there without knowledge of what a basketball is... let alone the game of basketball. I very well could be entirely wrong, and if that is somehow the case, boy have i been fooled. However, this seems doubtful.

Now i may sound bitter, and that is indeed factual. Reason being? I want to talk some white sox dammit, and i'm rarely given the chance to. Heads need to roll.

Pale Hose Talk scares me half the time. I tend to stay out of it. I am generally frustrated enough by the team.

I have learned to stay out of game threads. Took awhile, but I have learned.

Any thread over 5 pages I assume is just going in circles.

So you are saying you are on soxtalk 24 hours a day... and that what i stated is not true? For instance you are not on right now... so ''always'' in inaccurate. No reason for that unsure smiley.
