I just knew there was no way he could go into the season with this hanging over his head.

It would have been a huge distraction.

Ozzie wins this battle. He figures to lose the war eventually as almost all managers get fired someday.

Good move. 7 years, 600 wins, 2 division titles, and a World Series title. I don't know how you can expect much more out of a manager.

Agreed, and really only two years were the Sox out of it for most of the season.........c'mon Oz let's get it done again.

Smart move in the sense that now this won't be yet another distraction during the 2011 season, in addition to the several others that assuredly will pop up. In reality though, Ozzie still won't be back for 2012 if 2011 results in another postseason at home IMO.

I like how avg just about 86 wins a year isn't good enough around here
