June 24, 201114 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) It's some dumb eco blog. It's not like they have reporters to go out and interview people. Well then I fault you for not posting the original article. http://vegetarianstar.com/2011/06/23/yanke...ic-glove-video/
June 25, 201114 yr James Shields is an absolute beast. He should be in the Cy Young conversation. Back to back CGs for him. His ERA is now down to 2.4.
June 26, 201114 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) James Shields is an absolute beast. He should be in the Cy Young conversation. Back to back CGs for him. His ERA is now down to 2.4. And he will face some regression to the mean this year, just as he was supposed to face some last year. FGs did an article on Pujols during his terrible start, and this is something they absolutely failed to recognize, even after commenters made a point of it several times. Regression to the mean works both ways and it is certainly possible, and at times likely, that players will get hot for an extended period of time - above the mean - when they were below the mean normally. It's not regressing to the mean - which is expected - but to suggest that it is unexpected is also wrong. This works with and against Shields, and works with and against Adam Dunn. It's expected that Adam Dunn puts up his standard .250/.380/.520 in the second half. It's also entirely possible that he puts up .280/.420/.580 and then his final numbers will still end far below his career average. What part of that was expected and what part was unexpected?
June 26, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Latest in the season the Pirates have been over .500 since August of 1999. It would be awesome if they could somehow win that division. I feel genuinely bad for Pirates and Royals fans and it is heartening to see both of those franchises becoming relevant again.
June 26, 201114 yr Went to the Orioles-Reds game last night... it was a home run derby, the O's were serving up batting practice. Also, Aroldis Chapman throws really hard, you can see how helpless the batters look against him in person. Damn near all of the runs were scored off homers: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore;_ylt=...F?gid=310625101

June 28, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) I didn't realize he was in the league. He was hitting like .370 in AAA, along with over 20 homers I believe. And Im surprised that ball still had the cover on it after that.
June 28, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) I didn't realize he was in the league. He was in independent ball last year. Called up from AAA this year because the Diamondbacks needed a DH during interleague play. He's a large man.
