QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 08:07 PM)
Yes a team that has scored 23 runs in two days needs to be bunting in the 4th inning to get the bat into Omar Vizquel and Juan Pierre's hands to drive in the runs over Alexi.

That is assine thinking every time.

I agree, let Alexei try to drive them in, bad call on the bunt there. But Dunn just got under one and so did Konerko. Not really corpseball.

And Wil Ohman is a friggin' gas can.

Absolutely. 215 innings in the AL with an ERA regularly under 4, for a guy who will be hitting the FA market before he turns 28, and who happens to throw from the LH side, with no real injury history?

If he takes another step somehow, then you go from talking 7/$120 to talking 7/$150.

So what should, in your opinion, the Sox do with him this offseason if they make the playoffs but ultimately fall short of the World Series? Should they keep him around for another year and take the two draft picks, or should they trade him to a team willing to give him the money he would get on the open market? I think that if he's going to be gone in 2013, you trade him this offseason for the best package. Sale can replace him in the rotation.

Peavy is the closest thing to an ace the Sox have had since Wilbur Wood.

And his arm fell off.

Oswalt, Lee and Halliday are examples of aces.

And they're all on the same team which makes Philadelphia a cinch to get to the series.

If we're ripping D1, seriously look at the actual numbers.

6 IP, 6 h, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K's.

If Roy Halladay put up that line, you wouldn't be sitting there saying "He's not an ace!".

But that's Halladay's historical norm. When Danks does that for as long as Roy, he's an ace.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:05 PM)
That triple play changed the whole momentum of this game.

Indeed. The 1st two batters of that inning both worked the count and reached base. There was no reason to have a terrible bunter try to put one down. After the awful 1st attempt I was hoping Ozzie would tell him to swing away but he followed up with an even worse bunt attempt. The defense was just standing there waiting for it and saw it coming a mile away.

Someone might want to inform Ozzie that his lineup isn't the '85 Cardinals. Pretty much no one on this team no hows to execute a sacrifice bunt but his stubbornness doesn't care.

One day our manager will realize that this is the AL and bunts before the 7th inning are something that should be avoided. And that the use of bad loogy's just because they favor their left paw is going involve runs scoring in bunches. A stubborn man whom hopefully is going to be someone else's problem.
