Beckham off to a lousy start in becoming the Sox's third consecutive POTW.

No, but Buehrle is.

Considering it seems that Buehrle was on a short leash in the 8th, he must have told Ozzie after the 7th he was getting tired.

That is the only way Mark comes out with only 99 pitches and two hit shutout.

Hanging slider. So much for my prediction.

Thornton is blowing another one.

More people in this gamethread than there is at the freakin' game.

Ugh, hung the offspeed pitch. Just a terrible pitch and a dumb decision to put Thornton in here.

If Ozzie doesnt get it after this blown save I am going to lose it

Here we go. 0-2 and Thornton gives up the lead off double. Now watch the sac bunt or a steal

Here we go again.

What's with this 90 mph cutter crap?

MTINAC

Santos is the best potential closer on our team and everyone knows it

The result of trying to mix it up. The problem with trying off-speed pitches with Thornton is that they're not all that good. His fastball is better than anything he has.

oh my :lolhitting

That 0-2 pitch is a killer.

Thornton already showed the slider, so no need to throw another off-speed that at bat. If you are going to throw one, you need it to be unhittable. The pitch call should have been a fastball higher than high.

He still may get out of it yet, but some one has to go over that at bat and either tear Thornton or AJ a new one.

One down. Crain warming.

Lucky wow still have two outs to get

Whew, got lucky there. No first pitch fastballs to Barton.

Ok, CMONNNNNNNNNNN Thonton, do it

Wow, we got REAL lucky.

Ozzie couldn't resist - his imprint has to be on every game.

I can think of only two successful one-pitch closers - one's in the HOF (Hoyt Wilhelm) and the other is one his way (Mariano Rivera)
