No adjustment, and you are exactly right. We have basically hit like a mid-market baseball club payroll with a major-market payroll.

Walker has been the Sox hitting coach since 2003, and since then, here are the White Sox rankings in runs scored in the AL:

 

2003: 791 runs (8th in the AL)

2004: 865 (3rd in the AL)

2005: 741 (9th in the AL)

2006: 868 (4rd in the AL)

2007: 693 (14th and dead last in the AL)

2008: 811 (5th in the AL)

2009: 724 (12th in the AL)

2010: 752 (7th in the AL)

2011: 389 (10th in the AL, on pace for 650 runs)

 

It started out well, but has been bad from 2007 on (with 2008 a good year).

Line ups have something to do with it. BTW, the great Rudy Jaramillo, the guy who would make every White Sox hitter a HOFer has the Cubs 9th in the NL in runs.

What percentage of that major market payroll was spent on hitting as compared to pitching? Always seemed like the Sox had more money invested in arms instead of bats.

But you also have to adjust for those pitching ratings being, from first glance. pedestrian.

 

Same thing with the hitting...playing half the games at USCF. If you do the park-adjusted ratings (baseball-reference), you'll come up with a much different set of comparisons.

Not really. Sox pitchers have pitched better at home than on the road.

This offense is freaking awful. Half the starting lineup doesn't even hit the ball hard enough to score someone from first on a single because outfielders can play so many of our guys so shallow.

I would have to question why you would go there since the tickets are over priced there as well. Best to catch them on the road.
