Would Hahn spurn the Sox offer and take Cubs job instead?

For the love of god, let our next GM pick his own manager. If Reinsdorf hires LaRussa and promotes Hahn, then there's a high probability of organizational dysfunction in the near future. After all the KW/Ozzie bulls***, isn't this something we'd like to avoid?

I asked Kaplan about this a while ago. He thought so. But ofcourse that is Kaplan....

I hope both of these happen. Also, as long as our next manager is aware of splits and can actually understand what they mean, I'll be somewhat happy. I just can't believe in this era of information that there are managers who openly acknowledge they don't use statistics to help make decisions.

 

 

Production from Rios and especially Dunn were givens. I also think the Hudson trade hurts Williams here.

 

1.) I can't remember the player but I remember this board freaking out one game when Ozzie did use splits. I think it was Quentin he sat a game after he hit two homers or something because he was 0-for-20 against the pitcher and this board freaked out. Ozzie can't win on this board EVER except from a few of us.

2.) Rios?? KW should be fired now for picking up Rios. Nobody in baseball wanted Rios.

You know, it's actually hard to know this, the Sox got Rios pretty early on in the waiver wire list.

It's not going to matter who the White Sox manager is next year.

 

They still have Dunn, Rios and Peavy. And worse, still have Kenny Williams making deals.

So you honestly believe that KW has or had the authority to fire Ozzie and hasn't done so already? I think it's clear that Reinsdorf is not letting his GM have full control of a decision that should rightfully be his. Maybe money is the driving factor here, but I have no doubt in my mind that KW would hire a new manager if he could. Unfortunately, we now have to deal with his and Ozzie's bulls*** until Reinsdorf lets one or both of them go. That's not way it should work, and if KW had a power that most GMs have, we probably wouldn't be dealing with nonsense right now.

 

So if you want force a veteran manager who also happens to be one of Reinsdorf's buddies on a rookie GM, then I hope you're willing to accept another manager having more influence in the organization than he should really have.

I'm guessing Ozzie will be retained for the final year of his deal and KW will be moved up as Team President. Hahn has been over due for a promotion. I highly doubt Ozzie will get extended since they haven't made the playoffs in 3 seasons. This has by far been Ozzie's worst year managing. However, KW has been pretty bad at evaluating and bringing in players the last 2-3 years, creating this mess we currently have.

 

KW has been known for his risk taking maneauvers but the Peavy trade has been a bust, the Rios waiver claim has been a financial nightmare and Dunn is absolutely horrible in the AL. The three of those guys combined will make $40 million next year.

 

It pains me that we lost Gio Gonzalez for Swisher who we later traded for nothing.

It pains me that we lost Dan Hudson for Edwin Jackson who in return got us Zach Stewart (jury still out, but Hudson appears much better)

Okay, greg . . . You complain that KW picked up Rios and deserves to be fired. But you defend to the death the man who continues to play Rios AND bat him 4th when there are other options sitting on the bench (Lilli, De Aza)?

 

I know, there is no use trying to understand your love for Ozzie, but like everyone on here, I thought I'd just take a little stab . . .

 

 

Good call. That has the right JR feels to it.

No...the right'JR feel' is that he passes over Hahn for another candidate that no one esle has thought of. Given his love for LaRussa and the fact that Tony has got to be tired of managing, I wonder if the Chariman hires LaRussa for GM? An awful move, but something to consider.

I would love to see both gone the shelf life of both is stale as can be.

The Chairman intervenes behind the scenes on a lot of issues and KW wanted Cito Gaston, not Ozzie.

Not a huge fan of LaRussa, but he would be an upgrade over Ozzie.

1.) Wanna did it for me. Sorry I forgot the particulars. But yes there was a meltdown when Ozzie correctly played the splits regarding sitting Quentin. Let's face it. Ozzie can do no right either way with most on this board.

2. Exactly, Randy. You can't win with Dunn n Rios n Peavy ruining the salary structure of the team. Can't happen.

I think Ozzie making out his line up card for way too long thinking he'd get anything out of those 2 is going to hurt him, as is how he is taking things public. I hope they are both gone.

Simplistic. Look at how well the Twins are playing with their top 3 paid players not performing.

I agree. But Rios was a risk and he is paying the price, and the Jackson/Hudson deal was bad from the start. I definitely blame him for that. And the Teahen extension. And the poor situation on the farm, though there are outside factors there.

 

I personally feel its pretty clear that Ozzie is more at fault here than KW, but that doesn't mean Kenny doesn't share some of the blame.
