December 6, 201114 yr Author I love it. Sell high on a closer before paying him (always a bad idea), and Molina will clearly wind up in our rotation at some point.
December 6, 201114 yr This team is definitely being blown up. No reason to trade a very affordable closer like this. Edited December 6, 201114 yr by Whitewashed in '05
December 6, 201114 yr The thing with Santos is pitchers who rely so much on their slider seem to fall apart quickly. I loved watching Sergio, but we're selling high on him. Good luck Sergio!
December 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) This team if definitely being blown up. No reason to trade a very affordable closer like this. Unless they forsee some serious holes in the rotation that they need to fill in the next year or two.
December 6, 201114 yr Wasn't one of the scouts we just hired from the Jays? Interesting that we deal with them right away if I am remembering correctly.
December 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) Marty did. Yeah but when you say trade everyone you are bound to hit on one.
December 6, 201114 yr Still not sure if this means rebuild mode though, might just be dumping Serg because of Addy, we'll see...
December 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) The thing with Santos is pitchers who rely so much on their slider seem to fall apart quickly. I loved watching Sergio, but we're selling high on him. Good luck Sergio! I thought they could have gotten 2 players instead of one for Santos (around the quality of the one we are getting back), but it's most definitely saying that the Sox weren't sure on Santos lasting for very long, which is a fair assessment. I like the move for both teams though.
December 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) Yeah but when you say trade everyone you are bound to hit on one. He did specifically say trade Santos for SP.
December 6, 201114 yr I don't see this move being a sign of blowing up the team or a full rebuild. I see it as Toronto had a starting prospect the Sox are really high on, Santos is what it took to get him, and the bullpen is the area where the Sox have the most depth and can afford to let a guy go.
December 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) Any details on Molina's stuff? http://seedlingstostars.com/2011/11/24/the...lina/#more-2791
December 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) That's a good call. Like it as well. These are the type of deals that need to made for the future of this organization. I forgot about that. Hopefully this guy is as good as his numbers project, I have to admit I have never heard of the guy. Is there anyone with some knowledge of the Jays system that can give us an overview?
December 6, 201114 yr Author QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) Yeah but when you say trade everyone you are bound to hit on one. Don't be jealous.
December 6, 201114 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) I love it. Sell high on a closer before paying him (always a bad idea), and Molina will clearly wind up in our rotation at some point. He is under contact for three years, no payday in the near future. Not getting this move right now.
December 6, 201114 yr http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...11/2612251.html phillip (long beach, ca): What is Nestor Molina's stuff? He is making double a look very easy. Jim Callis: It's all solid: fastball, slider, changeup, occasional curveball. Not sure you'd call any of his offerings a plus pitch, but he mixes them well and moves the ball around the strike zone. Not the sexiest scouting report, but that's the type of guy who winds up in the big leagues.
December 6, 201114 yr You guys are only supposed to be raped by Cashman, ughhh I hate Kenny Williams.
December 6, 201114 yr Looks like it's Crain's job to lose at closer now. I can't see them putting Matt back in there... if he's still here. I don't see them handing the job to Reed just yet.
