Cuban slugger Yoenis Cespedes lived up to the hype last week in the Dominican League as it was his game-winning RBI double that allowed Aguilas Cibaenas to a win over the favored Licey Tigres and earn a berth in the finals against Escogido Leones.

Since his surprising announcement that he would join Aguilas, Cespedes had struggled, but he came on in the final two games by getting three hits, including a home run, and the series-clinching double.

Looks like he'll be a Fish - like it or not - Miami will be fun to watch this year.

Agreed, we need to start thinking about being happy with the hopeful signing of one of the other Cuban free agents. Miami has the money to spend and they will get him.

No way the Sox are getting this guy.

Sox have no money to win any bidding wars this offseason (cue rip of KW for Dunn, Peavy, Rios wastes of dough).

Marlins will sign him... they will go all out.

Agreed, no way, let's stop teasing ourselves. Seriously..........hope for Soler.

Soler has been my hope from the get-go. Get it done.

Yeah, w/ the amount of interest I have seen on Cepedes, and the rumors of him getting $8M or more a year, and I'd like Kenny to pass on him. Go after Soler, please.

The Red Sox are more interested in Soler. I think they will end up with him.

IN a way, I hope so. I hope they spend a ton of money, because it will make their collapse and sell off in a couple of years all of the more spectacular.

I had not heard that before. Interesting.

Teams are waiting for the OK to start bidding on Cespedes. There's still a feeling that Cespedes really doesn't want to go to Marlins.

On Cespedes: People in baseball wondering if Prince signing takes Tigers out of it. Not sure yet if that's true

Also on Cespedes: He has told teams he would prefer not to play in Miami. If so, he has interesting decision if Marlins still bid big.

The Tigers getting Cespedes would be pretty crazy. I still think Garza would be a great fit for them.

If he signs with the Cubs this weekend, there will be even more fireworks at Sox Fest...

Knobler tweeted earlier that there are executives that aren't convinced the Tigers are out on Cespedes. Mystery team to strike again?

unfortunately for KW, he is really in a lose/lose situation when it comes to all future FA signings with the gaffes of Peavy and Rios (I'm not counting Dunn as a gaffe)
