And has for a number of seasons.

I got a chance to listen to some sports talk today....my god there are people who were surprised/shocked Lovie got fired? Some even angry? WTF? Missing the playoffs 5 times in 6 years, 6 times in 9 years is f***ing pathetic. Lovie was incredibly average as a coach and his record supports that - beat the crap teams, lost to the good teams. Good f***ing riddance.

Well, his record was 81-63, so he wasnt exactly average

Hester couldnt even get into space in college, so its no surprise he has failed to do so in the NFL. He just isnt a football player.

I'm glad Emery mentioned profootballfocus.com, reading their signature stats is fun stuff...If you get bored, like I so often do go check it out. Kinda sucks it's not up to date (just first half stats, I believe you have to pay to get up to date stats) but it's still nice to see where some of our guys rank in a plethora of different unique stats...I like that Phil uses it to get an unbiased opinion on his guys.

Stuff like-

Kellen Davis was hands down the least productive TE (no shock their)

Chris Conte was the 4th most efficient tackler amung DBs

Carimi and Webb both rank in the bottom 15 in pass block efficiency, giving up a combined 77 pressures allowed

Cutler was pressured 38% of the time, only Kolb 42 and Vick 43% we're pressured more.

I know a lot of that comes at no surprise.

I'm only on page 2 of 5(?) I'm sure there is more to be learned here

Made it to the SB with Rex Grossman...I still believe that if the Bears had a healthy Tommie Harris and Mike Brown in that game, Bears win IMO. That Bears D wasn't the same after those two went down.

I agree that they have no idea how to run a screen, but i completely disagree about Hester. He has been given so many opportunities to do something with his speed and quickness and he dances and goes backwards. Hester has been his worst enemy

Completely agree. Either way it doesn't master. Hester will be cut.

Really like PFF. I'm going to buy a month's subscription and look at all the premium stats.

Saw this joke in another forum...

Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Tony Romo and Ben Roethlisberger walk into a bar...

They see four girls and go to pick them up. Cutler immediately says something stupid and another guy intercepts his girl. Eli is failing miserable and everyone is laughing at him but somehow the girl leaves the bar with him. Romo is just about to score but inexplicably starts talking about the time he had herpes and strikes out. While Romo is leaving he asks Ben how come he is still there? Ben says he's still waiting for the drug to take effect.

And if Tom Brady was with them, (wasn't available since he's in the playoffs) he would've left with all four of the hotties!

Yeah, it's an awesome site. Check out JJ Watts numbers. Insane how good he is. Last year the highest score in all of football was like a +60 (and that was by QBs). Watt has a score of >100 this year.

The punchline for Brady should be: Brady would get one of them pregnant but leave with the others.

Haugh asks the question that hasn't been asked in a couple of years...is Cutler the next Jeff George?

I hadn't though of that. Very similar personalities. Physically talented QBs who can't seem to win enough. Instead of swithing teams so often, Cutler has switched offensive coordinators, he still has time though.

So far, I think it is a good comparison.

Pioli is out in KC.

Anyone hear anything linking the Bears to Chip Kelly? I'm going to be disappointed if we don't even interview him...

Prepare to be dissapointed. Emery isn't even looking at (at least not yet) any of my top candidates (e.g., Holmgren & Reid).

Yeah, I mean I obviously trust his judgment over my own small pittance of knowledge on the subject, but when you fire a guy because his tenure has lacked any offensive consistency, and then don't even bother to interview one of the best available offensive minds, it seems a bit odd.

Im really not that enamored with Kelly TBH. He seems really gimmicky, his entire offense is predicated on his athletes being so much faster than everyone else on the college level. Not many of his kids translate to the NFL.

I would be happy if Emery stuck with the NFL offensive minds, and if he brought in a Gruden/Holmgren/Cowher, that would work too.

Yeah, I can understand the difference of opinion on him...but I think the fact that Belichick met with him last summer and implemented the fast pace goes pretty far towards whether his innovations are just gimmicks or not.

It doesn't matter to me whether his kids translate to the NFL or not...it only matters whether his ideas transfer to the NFL. I think they do.

Thank goodness your top candidates are nowhere near anything I want the Bears to be a part of - the next great head coach is out there, I'm hoping Emery finds him.

The only thing Chip Kelly can bring to the NFL from his offense is the up tempo, anything else would get killed.

People seem to be obsessed with getting a big name coach.

Sean Payton, Mike McCarthy, Mike Tomlin. All no names when they got hired.

I understand what you are saying about his ideas, but i think his personnel dictates his playcalling. He wont be able to run his Nike factory out there anymore against the Converse kids. It will be interesting to see how he runs an NFL team though. I just dont know if I want to see the Bears as the guinea pig

Honestly, the up-tempo thing will come and go after a few years, I'm sure....but what I like about him is his willingness to think outside the box. He consistently does things differently than the status quo, and he does it based on research and data.

I love the fact that Belichick is out there finding new ways to win in today's NFL, and yes, while his innovations eventually come and go, it's the capability to discover them and the confidence to implement them that is what makes him such a great offensive mind in the NFL. I'd like to think Kelly has a lot of that in him as well.

What's his record against the top 8-10 teams? Pretty awful. I can't even remember the last "big" game the Bears have won . Certainly not against GB, the Giants, the Pats, etc. He shouldn't be expected to go .800 against those teams, but i'm sure it's more like .300.

And I still maintain he's the luckiest coach in the league. Having your defense score so many points is fluky, not matter how much emphasis he puts on turnovers.

thats fine. its wrong, but thats fine.

Apparently St Louis and Tampa were all lucky when Lovie was there too.
