#WhiteSox announce one-year, $1 million deal with Kosuke Fukudome ($500,000 this season, $500,000 buyout for 2013 club option).

One year, 1 million with an option for 2013.

Typical KW. When he wants a player, he gets him, even if it's 4 or 5 years later.

Not a bad pickup. He can be our 4th OF

Rick Hahn: “Kosuke adds to our outfield depth and gives Robin another left-handed bat to mix into the lineup (CF-RF) based on matchups.''

Platoon partner for Viciedo or backup in case Viciedo can't hit or if Rios doesn't bounce back.

Good signing for 500k. *shrug* Unless he drops a 1000 OPS on KW, that 3.5m option ain't getting picked up.

Good signing for that money...he'll draw a few big walks I am sure...

At first head scratcher, but after few breaths I like the move!

He was bad in Cleveland, but if he can get on base with us like he did with the Cubs, this is a good move for some bench depth. If he's playing every day, it means one of De Aza/Viciedo/Rios has been awful, which means we're probably terrible anyways.

LH hitter on the bench late in games not much more.

Kosuke can catch the ball. The sox need outfielders who can catch the ball.

Not a Fukudome guy, but this is a great signing.

When my buddy texted me this, I almost threw up, but when I saw the price, I calmed down. $500K is nothing. I was worried we were giving him like $4-6M or something.

Even if he's primarily a defensive replacement, its hard to argue he'll be overpaid.

Theo who? KW has a plan.

huh

At best a nice contributor to a team playing to it's potential - competitive in the AL Central

At worst he doesnt cost anything and we can eat his contract or trade him mid season for a prospect.

So at worst this is a move that doesn't hurt us at all. I like it. Makes some cubs jerseys have a sox player on the back...that's sweet. Suck it cubs.

I think he just wanted people to stop mentioning we were the only team not to sign a FA...:)
