There was essentially no chance to trade him because of the money he's owed and his health. However, I agree it would be nice if he offered a discount by say restructuring what he's owed into a multi-year deal. Wishful thinking, but you never know.
May 11, 201213 yr Peavy just needs to keep pitching this way so that in July this thread is more meaningful. The handeling of Sale really has me more concerned as he is a much more viable long term piece to the puzzle and if management can't agree on whether to start him or sit him I would like to know who falls on which side of the argument.

If he's showing no signs of wear at ~150 innings, I'd probably consider proposing turning that 22 mill into 2 years. There is a huge problem if he has another significant injury in that time though -- it would probably be the final straw for KW if we weren't a playoff team at that point.
May 11, 201213 yr Not saying this is the be-all end-all, but Peavy's xFIP and K/9 are both worse than they were last season. If KW sees an opportunity to sell high on him now, I'd be all for it.
