Much crisper inning. Nice to see him elevate the fastball.

Thank you! You'd think this was Game 7 of the ALCS and we all bet $50k on the game...

Sale was great that half inning. He musta not warmed up correctly or something.

It would be nice to bash Hochevar second time through the order at least.

Much better inning. I wonder if the delay threw him off?

Regardless of the fact it was 3 batters, that was 3 pathetic ABs

De Aza just missed a triple and Dunn "just missed it". Plenty of time to critique the at bats, but too early to start suggesting we're seeing corpseball tonight

I recall Sale's draft scouting reports saying that his better pitch was his changeup. Bizarre that he doesn't like it anymore -- maybe a side effect of the time spent in bullpen.

He might have just lost the feel for it. The pen didn't help though. He faced a lot of lefties last year and you don't want to throw them many change ups. Hopefully he'll add it as the year goes on.

lol game threads are getting bad when we fail for not scoring in the first inning of the ballgame

Weird to hear Steve Physioc and Rex Hudler doing Royals games after the years they spent doing the Angels.

I think they just had Hal McRae on an "Our Time" commercial on the Royals' network here.

If so, it's about time. McRae was a stud player for the Royals.

May have.

Well that was just superb. Let's at least get a run in this inning.

Damn, Drake is brutal back there...

C'mon Alexei

We need some magic from the bottom of the order.

We're losing early, so this is an awesome game thread to post in because you can tell everyone how awful everything is and blame whoever you don't like in the org.

Game threads like Wednesday and Friday are terrible threads to post in because the Sox got the lead early and got good pitching, so it's no one's fault that they're winning. That's why Wednesday and Friday each only got 174 posts while the games before that when the team was losing or fell behind had 400 and 500 posts, and this game is well over 100 in the 2nd inning.

2 innings now!

Alexei, ya gotta figure it out soon.

That sucked.

I wanted to see Tank up with men on base against this hack.

Alexei taking over Rios' spot as Mr. DP.

Had Hochevar doubting himself a bit off his last couple of horrid starts and on the ropes and then let him off.

Just haven't been able to consistently come up with big hits this season. It has happened erratically, at best.

Or maybe by coincidence I was here for the start of the game and started posting and the Sox totally sucked the first inning.

If the Sox had scored 3, people would be all happy.

It's easy to be negative when it's 0-3 and Cy Hochevar isn't getting shelled yet.

Sox could come back, sure they could, if Sale settles down and throws zeroes through six.

Rex Hudler used to be fun. He's just brutal now.

The Royals have too many nicknames: Frenchie, Esky, Hos, Hoch, Gio to name a few.

Sale will be lucky to get through 5 with his pitch count and new focus on his durability by everyone in the org.

However, the most important development from this game was Chris fighting through the disastrous first and at least righting the ship.

And our offense theoretically SHOULD be able to score at least 3 off Hochevar. Everyone else in the AL has been doing it.
