With all we've gone through in CF it seems like Young would have been nice...but the other half of that story is it pushed McCarthy into the bullpen and they wound up trading him rather than giving him a starting spot.

 

So basically, without that trade, we never get Danks, and McCarthy goes through those couple injury riddled years with us rather than Texas.

Exactly. Of course we're happy that he does hit things, but he didn't by any means maximize his talent.

Supposedly he tweaked his swing this offseason and came out of the gate like gangbusters hitting .400+. Then he got injured and missed 3 weeks, so who know if he will keep it up.
