My bad. I saw on his fangraphs page that he made a AAA start, so I assumed that he was recently promoted.

Right now, you'd have to say the Tigers are still the favorites.

 

If they can keep Fister healthy and get Smyly back from the blister, and get Avila back 100%, they're going to be a tough out...no matter how bad Valverde's been pitching.

 

However, if Peavy keeps pitching like this and the team starts to fall out of, you see what you can get for him and use the 2nd half to audition virtually everyone in AA/AAA for next season.

 

That also gives you a better idea of what to do with Gavin Floyd.

 

I do? They are awful. The worst defense I've seen in years.

This news actually made me feel much better about Danks and his future if it was causing him issues all year. The thought of having a healthy, effective Danks to go along with Sale and Quintana as 3 of our 5 starters next year is a much better scenario than what could have been projected for the future a few months ago.

Not a doubt in my mind. He is way better than what he's pitched this year. I'm biased though cause I'm a big Danks fan.

7-3 since Austin Jackson returned, but it's been against some crappy teams. They have a 10 game road trip coming up at Pit, Texas and Tampa. Hopefully they don't win more than 4 on that trip.

The summary here is that it sounds bad, isn't as bad as it sounds, but none of us know how bad it is

 

I think he'll be fine, maybe it'll be a blessing in disguise as our starters will likely make it more clear which belong and which don't

You worry far too much about home/road record. The Royals are 11-20 at home this year, yet you seem very worried they're going to finish better than the White Sox.

This is what I feared.

They're not going to pay a pitcher that kind of money and sit him in the middle of a pennant race if he's healthy and there's no danger of further damage.

 

That said, they're obviously going to be very conservative. Everyone remembers the scenario with Peavy in 2009, which led to his changing his motion/delivery and the lat tear.

 

As Danks said, he discovered he was also changing his mechanics to lessen the pain, and that's where you always get into trouble.

 

HOPEFULLY, no surgery will be needed and he will be 100% in August and September. As mentioned, we just have to look at it like we're acquiring a 2/3 starter at the trade deadline, if we can stay within 3-4-5 games of first place by the end of July.

So it's a slight tear of the subscapularis tendon in his left shoulder....Grade 1

 

One of the articles on-line says "Danks has a torn tendon" and that sounds a LOT worse than it apparently is.

Well, this is not great news, but it doesn't change things from how they've been. Qunitana has filled that spot just fine. Now Ventura needs to let the kid pitch. I'm more worried about Humber and Floyd. Both have looked pretty bad of late.

Bad news for this season, but good news for the rest of his contract. If this is what was bothering him all season, and maybe some of last season, hopefully it can heal up & 2008-2010 Danks can come back for the next 4 seasons.

Absolutely, I still had a sneaking fear that it was a torn labrum which would have likely ended his career (hello Michael Pineda) despite ptatc calming me down. This sounds like it may have healed up by now if we knew about it from the get go and didn't have him taking such an active rest

I'm not going to guarantee the Royals over the White Sox, but do you really believe with Danks out for probably two months that the White Sox should be favored over a Tigers team that just got back Fister and Austin Jackson?
