It was wretched last night. And honestly I thought the worst call of the night went against the Heat. Battier got called for a foul on Boozer during a rebound in the final minute. Replay showed absolutely nothing happened, Battier barely had his hand on Boozer and there was no pushoff at all.

Im saying both NBA and NCAA have bad refereeing for the most part. Saying that the NBA is damn good compared to NCAA isnt really saying much, they are both bad

I was kinda sad he didn't miss that layup so that the refs could fail to call goaltending while he's hanging on the rim.

Carlos is a good and very valuable player. Our team will be undeniably worse whenever we decide to cut him loose. His main sin is not being a good defender (though he's made huge strides in that area, he clearly just lacks the instincts of a good defender) and being paid at market value. Market value players in the NBA aren't really cost efficient.

 

Posts like this make me wonder if I am watching the same Carlos Boozer everyone else is. In a span of one minute last night Carlos gave away 2 buckets all by himself.

 

Butler dives out of bounds to make a steal and whips it behind his back, Boozer fumbles the ball, falls over and drops it, Miami steals it back and gets a layup.

 

Very next play Carlos gets a rebound and foolishly tries to throw an outlet pass to Deng which is easily interecepted by Lebron, then Carlos doesnt even bother to try and get in front of Lebron and help Taj on defense as he comes in and throws down a dunk to cut the lead to 5. Carlos watched the entire play happen from half court and did nothing.

 

And to say they will be undeniably worse is wrong, that is assuming nobody replaces him. Hell, Taj could replace him and more than make up for the lack of defense.

Boozer is the textbook dumb basketball player.

No kidding. People love to hate on the dude, but he's been everything we could ask for this year. He knows he's slow on D, but he absolutely puts in effort. He's just not a good defensive player. It happens.

I just saw this. Makes me very sad. In an era of Lew Alcindor, Nate Thurmond, Wes Unseld, Dave Cowens, to name a few, the Bulls had Tom Boerwinkle. He'd never be thought of when anyone thinks of the best centers of the 70's, but he was pretty damn good. Like you mentioned, a great passer and also pretty damn good defensively and a tenacious rebounder. He still holds the team record of 37 rebounds in a game. That may never be broken.

His five career triple-doubles ranks him third in Bulls history behind MJ and Pippen. He’s second in Bulls career rebounds (5,745), fifth in games played (635) and seventh in assists (2,007). Bob Love was quoted as saying he cried all day when he heard about Boerwinkle's death.

My friend's father used to work for a company that Boerwinkle was a part-owner of. I met him a few times and sat in his box at the UC for some 'hawks and Bulls games. Nice guy, from what I remember.

I would totally buy a Hinrich jersey if it was about half-75% off right now

No way, that Celts-Bulls 09 series was one of the most incredible series I've ever seen, MJ included.

You must've been watching a different game then I was. It sucks to be jumping for a rebound and feel a hand in your back and the rebound goes flying over your head. That rebound was probably going over Boozers head regardless but Battier did push him ( just watch where Boozer starts his jump and how much he moves forward in the air after the push). Both players momentum was going towards the basket the long rebound caused Battier to use Boozer as a spring board to change his direction to go after the rebound which was headed to a corner.

I was yelling for a technical foul on that play. 1st it's basketball interference and the second the shot went up and it was apparent Lebron was hanging on the rim the whistle should've been blown and the basket awarded. Isn't hanging on the rim still supposed to be a technical ? I know it's never called anymore on offense since players hang to protect themselves from being undercut but that wasn't the case with Lebron on D.

Boozer pretty much trademarked the "jump towards the basket when you feel the slightest contact from behind and yell really loud" move. There was a push, but I've seen less contact go without a call.

Yeah we all have seen less but when it's out in the open like that it's an easy call to make. Under the basket when it's crowded is when its tougher to call. I've played a ton or organized ball in my life and that kind of contact from behind while in the air used to always tick me off . As soon as I heard the whistle I knew it was on Battier for the push off.
