What does SoxTalk think?

Who gets the job? Who SHOULD get the job?

Septimo is the guy I'd like to see, his splits against LH are nasty, and his control is improving. I don't want any of the guys starting to go to the pen, and Hernandez needs to stay in AA. And I'm assuming it will be a LHP. That leaves Veal and Septimo. Veal is on the 40, but he's actually been better against righties than lefties.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Veal get a shot.

Then if he doesn't cut it... they release him.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they call up a righty instead.

Omogrosso maybe.

Edited by scenario

Someone who can give them innings over the next 7 games.

If they go righty, I think it would be Heath. He's been awesome this year, can pitch multiple innings, and I think KW really likes him.

Probably veal, I think he has some ML time already

RAAAAAAAAANDY WILLIAMS

LOL.

Wasn't Donnie Veal a top prospect for someone a while back?

That would be the Chicago Cubs

Septimo's stats suggest someone with control problems...

What ever happened to Infante? I remember he looked good in his brief appearances, then nothing.

If he has that 100 MPH fastball still, I wouldn't be opposed to him.

His peripherals in AAA suggest he no longer has that kind of stuff.

Veal or Heath should, they have been putting up some very nice numbers this season.

I feel like they are going to call up Septimo, but those BB/9 numbers are downright scary at 4.7...

I'm going with the Steve Stone recommendation, Veal.

I saw a lot of him in spring training and I can confirm that. He was brutal. It has surprised me that he's done as well as he has at Charlotte. I know spring training stats don't mean much of anything but I saw him struggle with his control big time. I hope he's made good strides, as it seems maybe he has.

I'm going with Veal.

Whoever makes KW look most like a semi-genius...

Which means Pedro Hernandez or Castro.

Omogrosso just got in the Charlotte game.

If you want the best pitcher, it's far and away Heath. Best LHP would be Veal.

Let's see it then KW and co. Give us Heath - his numbers vs lefties look good.

I wanna see the best we've got.

Heath.

most of the guys despite having decent ERAs have high BB/9 which is always not good as a reliever especially when you go to the next step in the Big Leagues where the hitters will make you pay

Veal and Septimo have similar numbers, and similar control issues. But Check the L/R splits... Septimo is death for lefty bats, Veal is actually better against righties. Also, Septimo has seen his control improve since he got into the sox system, and as this year has gone on. Give me Septimo over Veal.
